Inspired by the wood-fired Robata grills of Japan, Mizu offers a refreshed take on live-fire cooking atop the Hyatt Centric in the heart of Charlotte’s SouthPark neighborhood. Led by the award-winning Indigo Road Hospitality Group, the rooftop restaurant combines the traditions of ancient Japanese cooking with Southern influences and Asian flavors. The chef offers a seafood-focused menu composed of wood-fired, raw, and chilled offerings, sushi, and shareable plates. True to the word Mizu’s translation to ‘water’ in Japanese, the space’s design takes inspiration from natural elements, which are incorporated throughout the chic, minimalist restaurant, and outdoor terrace with sweeping city views.

Date Night Spot, located on the 9th floor. Outdoor seating was beautiful and very clean. One of the best service I’ve ever experienced, our waiter was quick to go down the list of menu options with some of his favorites and answered any questions we had. Our drinks came out quick. The Lychee Martini was mouthwatering packed with Lychee flavor, one of my favorite martinis. My husband had the MIZU maple old fashioned, which he enjoyed. He said it was a delightful twist to his old fashioned with the maple flavoring. As for the food, the Ironman sushi roll had a Medium spice level but nothing special to me, about average sushi roll. The Oysters taste a bit too fishy however the toppings and flavors go well together. The Corn ribs were tangy, with a nice crunchy char alongside a touch of lime.
I’ve never had Sea Bass and wow am I glad I tried it. The Sea Bass was buttery, flaky and had a really nice glaze. The Flat Iron steak was cooked to perfection, a very flavorful steak, chimichuri sauce was excellent. For desert we had the Coconut Rice Pudding with passion fruit and mango. It was average, I thought it needed more rice to be a rice pudding. Overall, a must try date night spot or girls night out.

Went to Mizu for the first time and absolutely loved it! We ordered the SouthPark Shrimp, Pork Belly Buns, Hamachi Crudo, Yaki-Tori, and sushi rolls Spider and Iron Man: everything was delicious! The service was excellent, our server Ava was super friendly and attentive 10/10
The atmosphere is beautiful, modern, and peaceful, perfect for a lovely evening. The patio is stunning, especially during sunset.
I’d definitely recommend it and would go back without a doubt!

The view was beautiful. The weather was perfect. We had a small plate, 3 rolls;the Lemond drop, the iron man, & a new one the LFG. The iron man was the best! Had the Sea Bass which was okay. The best part was the cheese cake which is also a new item. I would have ate so many cheesecake had I ordered it first

Took my man here for his birthday this past weekend and Mizu did not disappoint! Our server Ivey was the best! We received a complimentary appetizer of the negi ma & and a complimentary old fashion. Both were AMAZING, the drinks we ordered were spectacular! The crab fried rice, and pork buns were delish, and the dragon sushi was made to perfection. We sat outside it was such a nice sunrise and way to celebrate his birthday. We will definitely be back soon!

We decided to go for happy hour sushi specials. There were only a few options so we got most of them to share. The sushi rolls were good but nothing amazing. The robata was pretty boring and didn’t encourage us to order any off of the regular menu. The hand roll options looked good but were impossible to eat. Mine ended up all over the table.
Our server was good but the food was slow. I overheard another server apologizing to another table about the slowness and blaming it on happy hour. They have happy hour twice a week and I would think should know how to handle that limited menu.
Cocktails were pretty and tasted delightful but I’m not sure had much alcohol in them at all.
I’ll be happy to return to Mr. Tokyo for my future sushi needs.
