The food was good, but they messed up our order and weren’t very nice when we asked them to address it. The salad had barely any meat and spicy sauce that was requested to be off of the food was left on, making a very uncomfortable eating experience. They were very nice with their regular customers though, if only that applied to us.

Homey. Warm. Always delicious.

We’ve been coming to this place for years and like this restaurant more than other Mexican places we’ve been to in South Bay.

We moved away from Mountain View, but we still drive here for the food and atmosphere.

The dishes are named for the owners and their families (Sal special!). The windows and walls have hand drawn paintings. It’s a special vibe.

Burritos delicious. Fajitas sizzling. Some chips, guac and margaritas and you’re set.

The food I ordered was a 2 item combo, I chose a chimichanga & a chile relleno. I also asked for a side of guacamole, I even asked the waitress if she heard me because she didn’t repeat my order back to me..first thing was the food came out quick! Too quick for this food to be made fresh. The chile relleno was cold in the middle disgusting!! I had a hard time getting anyone to pay attention to my trying to flag them Down. Finally they came over to my table and I told them it was cold in the middle, she took it and I guess reheated it in the microwave and that took forever. I also never received my guacamole so I had to once again wag someone down which took forever. They brought me a teeny tiny little cup of guacamole are three dollars for it so ridiculous plus the two items menu at $21.95 also included $1.50 up charge if you ordered a chili relleno, dont eat there its terrible food high prices and terrible service!

Today we enjoyed the mole poblano enchiladas.
Previously we had tostadas and they were really good. The covered outside dining was pleasant and the staff was helpful and knowledgeable about the dishes.

First off the guacamole was 5 star. Order that.

Secondly, I ordered the meal off the front of the menu and was not disappointed. The steak was thinly sliced which is a bit deceptive from the photo but it was seasoned beautifully and cooked medium rare.

The rest of the food I crushed before taking a photo. The dessert was a churro with honey which was delicious AF.

Stayed open during lockdown despite struggling. It’s one of the few local family-owned eateries left! They’ve been faithfully serving their amazing food for decades! All of their specials are amazing!

Paying extra for a chips/salsa refill is kind of sad, but the Mexican food is very good here.

Los Portales is solid Mexican food in the area. They are inexpensive compared to other food options in the area. I’ve tried the Los Portales Super Burrito and Margarita. The wet-style burrito was delicious and filling— yes, loaded with meat. The sauce seemed tomato-based and had a slight kick of spice.

The menu was extensive and it was hard to choose. I was happy with the burrito and margarita. There is one complimentary basket of chips and salsa. The downside is having to pay for a refill of chips!

They are family oriented and the service is great. Parking is very easy in the lot as it’s in a nearly abandoned plaza.
