Musaafer is special. From the moment you walk in, you understand this is a place that has been meticulously thought through. It’s hard in NYC for a restaurant to stand out on ambiance – and that is exactly what has been accomplished. Hard to believe that’s just where the incredible experience only starts. The food is just phenomenal – flavors that are familiar and new at the same time. The coconut curry shrimp was unlike any I have ever had, and had set the bar way too high. The same can be said for every dish. The butter chicken, short rib even the incredible selection Naan. Every dish is a show stopper. The drinks match with both creativity and balance. Our special night was capped off with a wonderful visit by Chef Mayank Istwal who was so generous to chat with us as our meal wrapped up. If you’re looking for an unforgettable meal, this to me is a must. I just hope word doesn’t spread too fast as I will want to go back soon!

I had an absolutely exquisite dining experience at Musafer NYC! From the moment we arrived, everything was thoughtfully curated to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The restaurant’s decor, marble detailing, and lighting were phenomenal, creating a luxurious yet warm ambiance. We arrived early, and the staff guided us to their elegant bar, where we enjoyed some refreshing mocktails while soaking in the perfect music and atmosphere. For drinks, we tried Ashwagandha and Pomelo, and for starters, we had Chena Dahi Vada Chaat and Lichi Ceviche — both were wonderfully flavorful and unique.

For the main course, we ordered Daal Musafer, Paneer Rezala, Butter Chicken (served in two gravies), and Plain Basmati Rice, along with Bullet Naan, Garlic Naan, and Laccha Paratha. Each dish was impressive: the Daal Musafer is a must-try, whether you are vegetarian or non-vegetarian, and the butter chicken was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced across its two gravies.
For dessert, we had Gulaab and Mishti Doi presented with Shrikhand. Both were creative, delicious, and beautifully presented. What really stood out was the exceptional service. Our server, Sumit, was amazing — explaining every dish in detail. In between, two chefs even came to our table to personally serve dishes and share insights, adding a wonderful personal touch. The staff consistently checked in to ensure everything was perfect, making the experience feel warm, welcoming, and attentive.

Overall, I’m completely impressed. The flavors were top-notch, the service and attention to detail were extraordinary, and the restaurant’s decor and lighting made the experience unforgettable. Not just dinner, but a culinary adventure. Musafer NYC, you’ve set the bar high. I left feeling delighted and would highly recommend Musafer NYC to anyone looking for a truly memorable culinary experience.

We did the tasting menu and it felt like a full, well-paced experience from start to finish. Flavors were layered, spices were present but not overpowering, and each course flowed naturally into the next. Portions look small on arrival but build into a very satisfying meal by the end. Service kept everything moving smoothly and explained each dish without hovering.

The lamb chop add-on is absolutely worth it.

I recently visited Musaafer in New York City with a group of friends while we were fasting.

Overall, I’d rate the food a 7/10. The steak was really flavorful and cooked well, but unfortunately everything came out cold… even the beef vindaloo, which should have been hot. The rice that came with the steak wasn’t really my taste, but I ordered cumin rice on the side and that was absolutely delicious. We also ordered several mocktails, and the ashwagandha mocktail was definitely the best … I enjoyed it so much I had three glasses.

The restaurant itself is beautiful, but it felt very stuffy and crowded. Since we were fasting, we kindly asked if we could be seated somewhere slightly private so we could break our fast comfortably. We were placed in a corner by the side entrance where deliveries were constantly being brought in. Boxes were being wheeled in nonstop, bumping into our chairs the entire time. We had to keep shifting ourselves to make space, which made it difficult to relax and enjoy the meal.

On a positive note, our waiter was sweet, respectful, and attentive to all of our needs, truly appreciated. However, the front staff wasn’t very warm or welcoming. There weren’t many smiles, and the interaction felt rushed… just taking coats and directing guests to their seats without much hospitality.

Would I go back? Maybe, maybe not for certain dishes and the mocktails. But I do hope they improve the seating experience and front-of-house warmth, especially for guests celebrating something meaningful like breaking a fast.

This has to be one of the best dining experiences ever! So we booked a table of 3 and unfortunately one of our friends backed out last minute. The restaurant made no fuss, gave us the same table. Even though they said you have around 2 hours for the table NOT once did they rush us to finish or order the next course unlike most NY restaurants. Most importantly, the food is exceptional! Each dish is a burst of flavors in your mouth. Staff is extremely knowledgeable and courteous. Tanmay was our host and he recommended us the best dishes and also exact portions that we needed. We were about to over order but he told us the right portion and to order more if needed. We absolutely enjoyed our experience and cannot recommend it enough. Special mentions to the chef who has magic in his hands. I cannot recommend a specific dish, you literally need to try the entire menu! Yes it’s a little expensive but I promise you it’s worth every penny!

The best Indian food experience ever! The decor, service, ambiance, and energy were all great—but the food was the winner

The two variations of butter chicken —chefs kiss!

The masala chai is also legit probably the best you’ve had in NYC. HIGHLY recommend this place if you can snag a resy

Shoutout to Josh for being amazing at service! He explained the dishes very well and was extremely helpful throughout the whole dining experience. Food was super quick, despite being so busy!

We were celebrating my parents’ 30th anniversary. Josh brought us a Happy Anniversary card with all of the signatures of the waiters, a gesture to remember!

A big shoutout to the chefs Mayank and Sumant as well, the flavors were very interesting and super flavorful. Being Indian, some of the dishes were familiar but I noticed a slight twist which really elevated them.

I recommend the masala pappad for appetizer and mishti doi for dessert 🙂

Nice addition to the NYC Indian fine dining scene.

The food is good and somewhat better than bungalow, but not quite Indian Accent. I’m pretty sure they will earn one Michelin star in the coming year.

The lamb biryani is extremely good, it is moist and fall of the bones lamb with delicately flavored rice.

The 72 hours cooked black daal is good, but not heavenly.

The pani poori app is excellent, maybe the best in the last few years.

The restaurant is trying to replicate the art style of Agra and taj mahal. Definitely worth a visit. The cocktails and desserts are good.

Had a wonderful time at Musaafer. The food was really tasty and the drinks were fantastic. What stood out the most was how helpful and sweet the staff were throughout the evening. Zoraver also came over to speak with us and made sure we were well taken care of, which we really appreciated. The hospitality truly made the experience special. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely come back.

We celebrated my 50th birthday at Musaafer, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The ambience was beautiful, warm, and elegant, perfect for a special occasion.
Our waiter, Michal, was outstanding. He knew every dish in detail and even shared the history behind each one we ordered, which made the meal feel truly special and personalized. The service overall was awesome—attentive without ever feeling rushed.
The highlight of the night was the dessert created by Executive Pastry Chef Sumanth Sharma. He personally came to our table, wished me a happy birthday, and explained exactly how he crafted the dessert, which was both delicious and so thoughtfully presented. The team also surprised me with a handwritten birthday card, which was such a kind and memorable touch.
Musaafer is absolutely worthy of its Michelin recognition, and I highly recommend it for anyone celebrating a milestone or looking for a truly special dining experience. On a side note you have to make reservations it’s highly recommended.
