Some of the best tasting and unique tacos I’ve had.
Is on the list for Los Angeles’s best 100 tacos .
Vegetarian offerings is quite extensive.
Roasted avocado guacamole plus chips fresh out of the fryer was excellent.
I got the 3 taco combo that comes with an agua fresca (I usually get cucumber/lime), but other flavors available seasonally. Tonight it was Guava and hibiscus (Jamaica?).
The Elote (sweet corn) and crispy chickpea taco is very fun to eat.
Crunchy potato taco comes two ways : with cilantro (green crunchy potato) or plain potatoes – layers of potatoes deep fried taco, topped with cabbage and relish including red onion.
Beef cheek taco – meat was so tender and had a really unctuous mouth feel.
I’ve had the jackfruit taco in the past but that’s a mind over matter experience for me – I could sense the very floral taste and expected the sweetness of jackfruit.
Kids menu had a smaller quesadilla, we opted for fires – those were skinny, crisp & delicious (I think i ate at least 1/3 of the dish).
It’s not your usual taco stand for sure, because i somehow ended up spending well over $100 for 3 – taco trio combos plus one burrito.
You place your order at the counter or a kiosk, pay first then food gets brought to table by a server. For Dine in, we were given two types of salsa in squeeze bottles.
Salsa is also serve yourself on the counter, napkins, bags, to go boxes and utensils also self serve.
We bussed our table at the end.
Very interesting decor on walls, several booth type areas, plus two separate and smaller tabletops. Only One high chair available.

About a year ago, I randomly came across Str8 Up Tacos on Yelp while searching for vegan options, and I’m so glad I did. It’s honestly been one of my favorite finds. What immediately stood out to me was the variety. As someone who is plant-based, I’m used to restaurants having one or two “okay” options. But Str8 Up Tacos has plenty of vegan and vegetarian choices, plus options for people who eat meat and seafood. It’s such a breath of fresh air to look at a menu and actually feel excited about multiple dishes instead of settling for the one thing you can eat. I switch up my order almost every time because there’s so much to try. The first time I went, I dined in. The second time, I brought my partner (who is also plant-based), and he was blown away by the flavors. Everything tastes fresh, well-seasoned, and thoughtfully made. We also grabbed aguas frescas, which were so refreshing and paired perfectly with the tacos. My personal favorites? The hibiscus taco, the green potato taco, the chickpea elote, and the red salsa definitely have my heart. And I say that as someone who usually only prefers red salsa, but their green salsa is actually so good too. They really don’t miss.
One thing I especially love is that they use black beans and cilantro-lime rice. I will choose black beans over refried or pinto beans any day, and their cilantro-lime rice is so fresh and flavorful. The combination just tastes lighter and more vibrant, and you can really tell they put thought into the ingredients. As someone who loves black beans and cilantro, that detail alone makes me so happy every time I order. The customer service is always great, the food comes out quickly, and the place is consistently clean. I’ve dined in, ordered takeout, and even ordered through Postmates, and the quality and portions are always consistent. Some places change up portions depending on whether you dine in or take it to go, but not here. It’s always on point. I also love that you can grab dessert on your way out. I recently saw they added a vegan pozole to the menu, and I’m already looking forward to trying that next time. If you’re vegan, vegetarian, plant-based, carnivore, or just someone who appreciates bold, flavorful food, this spot is absolutely worth checking out.

Amazing veggie options, get the fried jalapenos and put them in your quesadilla and burritos and have the cauliflower tacos and the jackfruit. Got some to go this was epic! Nice heat real tasty and super clean. Vegetarians have a blast and your omnivore friends will enjoy as well.

I’ve been a customer of Str8 Up Tacos since the early days when they were operating out of a gas station with just a service window. Even back then, the food spoke for itself. The flavors were bold, fresh, and consistent every single time.
Seeing them grow into their Lakewood location has been well deserved. The quality has never slipped — if anything, it’s gotten even better. The service is always friendly, efficient, and welcoming. You can tell they take pride in what they do.

This place is delicious! Everything is made fresh. The way they slow cook their meat is awesome. It’s very tender.The tortillas are also made in house. Same with the chips and salsa. I had the beef trip tip tacos. And a Mexican coke. My husband had the beef cheek, fish , and al pastor tacos. They also have a red and green taco sauce( made fresh) on the table besides the salsa. The perfect topping to those delicious tacos. I also love the way they decorated the restaurant. And the service was very friendly and prompt. I wouldn’t say that the area around the restaurant is particularly great so they do also have take out service.

I have been going here for a long long time (over five years) – never disappointed by the flavors and quality of the tacos. I love the spicy potato, black bean corn and chilli, and chickpea taco. I save this as a special occasion meal for myself since it’s normally so indulgent, but so damn good! Love this place and it’s a gem for vegetarians/vegans. Not many like it at the same price point.

Tacos are my #1 so I want good ones. My husband found this spot when I went strictly vegan. I’ve tried every veggie taco and they are uniquely amazing. I have a favorite rotation for the 3 taco combo that comes with a drink. Currently I’m doing the Brussels, mushroom, and potato combo. This is the best deal. I always have a taco left over for later. My husband is currently on the chicken burrito which is huge. A must try is the crispy potato taco. I challenge you to not crave it afterwards. Sorry no photos. The food is gone too fast for that.

Deducted ⭐ with the switch out of Carne Asada to Tri-tip. The Tri-Tip is flavorful, but actually a shredded roast and miss the Carne asada texture of the meat over the shredded Tri-Tip.
What would really make the menu, and an sure others might have requested, is Al Pastor
Pricy, but I would pay for Iberico Pork/Wagyu of pork “Albanico Pork” (Rib Cap) with a modified seasoning!
I’ve grown to love the attention to detail on the quality of everything that is made/used at Str8 Up Tacos, so thank you for EVERYTHING YOU DO!
