I would give the food a 3.5 if possible. The service was outstanding, our waitress was attentive and helpful, we asked for her recommendations on a few things and she was spot on.
The pork belly and the baked beans were the best part of my meal and the wing appetizer was excellent.
If I am back in the area I will definitely return.

We arrived close to noon and was greated right away and offered either an outside or inside table. The weather was perfect so we took a high table for two in their outside “tent”. There was a slight warm breeze and the shade from the sun was nice. Our server came quickly and offered the standard options for alcoholic beverages but when we asked for non-alcoholic options our server listed off serveral items not on the menu that she could make for us. All with an ernest effort to provide something we would like. My wife chose a strawberry lemonaide and I got my standard diet coke. Then luch menu (see pics) was fund to read and offered a wide range of very unique options. We started with a dish of their “Stogies”, their large egg roll appetizer with smoked bacon and grilled chicken. The accompaning citrus ailoi sause had just the right hint of spice but did not overpower the taste of the egg roll. These were some of the best I’ve had. For my main dish, I chose the “My Deer Steer”, a smoked roast beef sandwich with swiss cheese and horseradish along with lettuce, tomato, onions and sprouts. I also opted for onion rings instead of french fries. My wife got the Hammered Haddock with french fries. Both sandwitches had generous portions and were done to perfection. My roast beef was tender and very tastly. The onion rings had a light batter and also perfectly done. With encouragemet from my wife I tried their french fries as well. They also we some of the best I’ve had. Light and crispy. No soggy stuff here! We didn”t have room for desert but I really want to go back for their bread pudding! I want to give a special shout out to our server who went out of her was to do anything to make our time with them enjoyable.

Greeted on arrival. Our hostess was also our server and I’d say she did an excellent job managing both for as busy as it was. Very nice and sweat young lady. The food was excellent, this place was recommended to us while visiting Colby. The food was prepared just as expected and tasted amazing. Very happy with our visit. Kids tried the root beer in a bottle and loved it.

This was a great restaurant to go to it’s right across the street from the Waterville Opera House services fast food is delicious they do have drink specials during happy hour. Reasonably priced highly suggest that is Simply Delicious. Appetizers were great too we had the wings as well as the chicken empanadas. And I had the Lone Star Burger which was delicious! Looking forward to going again

We wanted to love this place so badly based on reviews and the menu and we were incredibly disappointed. We went before a performance at the opera house, so maybe that played into it, but we will not return. We waited 20 minutes to get in at 5 o’clock. When we were seated, there were many open tables. It was incredibly hot and one of the kids had to repeatedly go outside to cool off. The ice didn’t even stay in the drinks and the glasses were sweating so much that there were literal rivers running across the table. Cheese curds were great. Beer cheese with the pretzel had a pool of grease on top and looked curdled. Brisket sandwich was on thin bread with sliced cheese and tasted much too smoky for me. I couldn’t eat the sandwich and stayed with just the onion rings. The chicken tender basket had the chicken and fries tossed on top of the biscuit so that was a crumbly mess by the time my daughter found it. Our waitress checked in once about 5 minutes after food came and not again until it was time for the bill. Dinner took just about two hours. Bill was $164 after tip for two adults and two kids. We will definitely be finding a different place next time.

I hadn’t been to The Proper Pig in over a year because my last visit just wasn’t great… but friends told me to give it another shot and WOW, I’m so glad I did! ✨
Our waitress (also the bartender ♀️ ) was absolutely fantastic—super friendly and made the night awesome. I ordered the Lipstick Pig cocktail and it was DELICIOUS!
The food was on point—fresh, flavorful, and seriously good. I had the shrimp wrap (so yummy), and the BURGERS were SO MUCH BETTER than before Huge upgrade!
The new menu is , the atmosphere felt great, and overall it was just such a fun, delicious experience. The Proper Pig is officially BACK on our go-to list for nights out!
