They also have some souvenirs, perfect to remember your visit. Friendly service, great quality, and a location that’s perfect for a sweet treat in downtown Overland Park.
Straciatella, was by far my favorite. The word has several meanings from cheese to soup, but the Gelato was better than I could have imagined. Thin layers of chocolate, various lengths and widths are laced throughout the ice cream. Who didn’t love Vienna Ice Cream Cakes because of that?!
I rounded out my two selections with Pistachio and Dark Chocolate. I’m fortunate enough to have tasted pistachio Gelato meters from the Sicilian Pistachio trees they were picked from, so I was eager for a trip down a savory memory lane. It was good, glad I tried it. The color was unusual, but what we know of Pistachio coloring is probably fabricated anyways. I did wish it had pieces of Pistachio in it, but the flavor was there.
I mentioned Annedore’s, this name reminds me of grade school, visiting the location on 41st St in Midtown for a treat after school (thanks Mom!). So I had to try the dark chocolate, it was rich. Decadent. I noticed I was eating it slower than the other two, but it was eaten in its entirety. They had a selection of candies, I noticed chocolate covered coffee beans, so I had to have.
The courtyard it shares with Strang Hall to the East, is prefect to grab a bench or chair and enjoy the evening breeze. It wasn’t cheap, but comparable to any of the other small ice cream shops near the area.
