Had a great time at Mt. Royal Inn! I came to try the wings, especially the MRI wings since they were voted best around. They were solid — well-cooked and tasty — but honestly, I expected a bit more in terms of flavor or spice considering the hype. Still good, just not standout.

We also tried the Maple Bourbon wings, which were unique — basically wings drizzled with syrup and a sprinkle of salt. Tasty overall, but I’d suggest making sure the salt is spread more evenly, as only the top wings had it, leaving the bottom ones a little bland in comparison.

The star of the night was the mac & cheese with BBQ on top — absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I’d come back just for that dish alone.

We sat outside, and although it was a bit chilly, an employee helpfully showed us how to turn on the outdoor heaters on demand — a really nice touch. The new outdoor space is definitely a great addition to the place.

All in all, a solid experience. While the wings didn’t quite blow me away, the atmosphere, service, and that mac & cheese made it well worth the visit. I’d absolutely come back again.

We came here to decide for ourselves if the wings really earned 1st place, as we saw in a post on Facebook. We are long time fans of Nugget and Pic wings, so for these wings to beat them, they have to be pretty good. Upon first bite, they tasted almost exactly like the Tony’s wing sauce(nugget wing sauce) with slightly more heat to it. All 9 people at the table agreed. Do they just buy Tony’s wing sauce in a jar and doctor it up and bit to make it their own? They are also larger than the nuggets wings. While they are good, my family and I still agree the Nuggets are better. Our party of 9 also ordered various apps, sandwiches and dinners. We were overall satisfied with our meals and would definitely come back to try more items from the menu. The servers are attentive and made sure our large party had everything we needed even though it the place was pretty busy. We were able to get a large table in the small dining area but there is covered and heated outdoor seating.

Absolutely fantastic experience at the Mount Royal Inn. The food was outstanding, the service was on point, and the atmosphere was exactly what you want…warm, welcoming, and comfortable. You can tell the place has real pride behind it.

A huge shout-out to the owner, Byron, an awesome guy and genuinely great person. His presence and personality make the whole experience that much better.

Highly recommend.

I’d like to give this place -5 stars if I could. We walked in as a party of 5 and the bartender says to seat ourselves anywhere. We sit at a table and waited and waited and waited and waited for 27min until my wife went up to the bartender to ask where’s a waitress. He said, there is no waitress and he’ll be over to take an order. He finally comes over to our table without any menus. We couldn’t take the incompetence any longer and just left. Absolute total waste of time. Maybe it’s just a bar for locals and they don’t care about anyone that isn’t in their click. We’ll never go back.

I’ve driven past the Mt Royal Inn countless times, and after years of doing so, I finally made it in for dinner.

Being an 18th-century structure, the place isn’t very large. There is a decent sized bar, a small dining room with four tables, and an outdoor seating area that is heated, but is best used during the warmer months.

Dinner consisted of fried pickles (a must), the “1762” roast beef sandwich, and the infamous “MRI wings”. While I enjoyed the roast beef, the sandwich was a bit dry. The wings on the other hand were fantastic! Deep fried and covered in a flavorful sauce that wasn’t too hot or mild, I could definitely see why they’ve been ranked some of South Jersey’s best! I will definitely be back for another round!!

Met expectations. Place was recommended by a friend. The apps and the wings were good. French onion soup was flavorful; I personally like a little more cheese but still enjoyed. I had mix feeling about the taco as it was a mexican and American taco combined in one. Meaning it was served with cilantro, lettuce, and tomato. Was actually impressed with the cuban sandwich. Normally its either lettuce/tomato or cilantro and onions, not both, but still was good. Kids enjoyed their burger and they let me customize the mac snd cheese for the other. I would pass on the pizza as it taste like something me and the kids had made at home. Everything came out hot. Limited indoor seating out side of the bar. Plenty of outdoor seating with heat vents for the winter months. The seats closer to the door put off better heat than the picnic tables. Waiters were alert and prompt and worked together on refilling drinks. Definitely on my return list.

Mt. Royal Inn
.
This spot has just popped up on my wing radar in the past month or so, with some folks mentioning it. Not sure why we never went there with my motorcycle club when we were getting wings weekly at spots all over South Jersey, but anyway…
.
I took the kid over to Philly and we hit up the Eagles Pro Shop. Then my son was like “Hey, since we’re in Philly, let’s get a cheeseteak!” I’m like “Ok awesome….Lets hit up Johns Roast Pork”. Ooops, CLOSED on Mondays.
.
I said we can go over the bridge and hit up Holy City Publick House in Gloucester and grab some Chiodi wings….Opps, Don’t open until 4pm on Mondays…
.
That’s when I figured we’d try Mt. Royal Inn.
.
Short and sweet review. Super big disappointment. Menu says Market Price, which is $15.95 per an order of 10. Steep…they were big. My .02cents….if they are going to charge that much, and the wings are that large…. let me opt for an order of 5 and pay $8 for it.
.
They were large, not crispy, unbreaded, served in a takeout container. This place is a dive bar to the extreme (but that’s totally ok….we love dive bar spots). There were a noticeable amount of flies, zipping around the bar. All the liquor had plastic cups over the pour spouts and the taps had blue “plugs” when we arrived.
.
The bartender was super friendly and helpful.
.
We grabbed the hot and honey with black pepper and the “Famous MRI Sauce” (which come to find out is Tony’s Wing Sauce, which they have at the Golden Nugget Tavern where the wings are better (in our opinion).
.
The most recent friend of ours to recommend this place Danielle told us about the Pine Hill Tavern, Golden Nugget (which we knew about) and this place….This place was really just a disappointment to us. We had high hopes because the Pine Hill Tavern wings were excellent, Golden Nugget we already knew and enjoyed….but this place….I guess if you’re South of 42, down that area, it’s good…..but we won’t go out of our way to go there again. Glad we tried it though! We gave it 2 stars based on how hyped this place was versus what we got. We wouldn’t tell anyone to go out of their way to go there…

Had the tacos on taco Tuesday and they were great. Try the original wings too for sure. Good spot but a small inside. There is outside seating but it’s on a main road. A good cozy stop.

I drive past this bar all the time and it’s always crowded so we decided to stop in for some drinks and food. The drinks were good especially their specialty drinks. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing. The fried chicken salad bites were some of the best appetizers I’ve ever had. You have to try them!
I highly recommended checking this spot out if your looking for a local bar with good drinks and even better food.
