Pricey! The small salads start at $15 but they include a bread basket. Sandwiches begin at $14.50 for a 4 oz portion, 8 oz portions are available.
The staff were very helpful & friendly, giving useful information to help decide amongst the many choices.
My eventual choice was was a #17, Corned Beef with Thousand Island & coleslaw (slaw on the side). Given the choice to have the rye bread grilled, I went for it.
A tasty, if slightly dry, sandwich. A messy eat without the slaw on it, I can only imagine the mess I’d make had it been on. The grilled bread has a good amount of butter on it. I’d forgo that unless you want to wipe your hands after every bite.
Comes with pickle spears.
Floor is greasy, several people mentioned it, best take smaller steps.
Hallway to the restrooms is narrow, while avoiding the coat hooks on one side, I hit the wall on the other with my shoulder

The food is really good. The place is old but in a good way. Things haven’t changed in years but if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. It’s still as good as it’s ever been. That being said, the prices have just gone up so much over the years. That’s the only reason for 4, not 5 stars. Corn beef sandwich on Rye bread and some matzos ball soup. Recommended but just keep an eye on how much ya spend.

These are the sandwiches you dream about when you have time for a good lunch. The corned beef is amazing. We both got our own full sandwiches because it was too good to share. The barley and chicken noodle soups were hearty and nostalgic from when I was a kid eating a bowl of soup in winter. Fresh meats and piled high for a full tasty bite. Generous protein serving and clean simple ingredients. Rye bread and onion roll are perfect. Stop in asap! There is something for everyone.

I’ve been coming here for corned beef sandwiches for more than 20 years, and the quality and quantity have been deliciously consistent throughout. The cashier/owner is by far the biggest reason I go out of my way to go to THIS bread basket, as opposed to any other I may be close to. Beautiful and friendly, her smile is the first you see, and your d a y only gets better from there. Did I forget to mention how good the food is? Prices hurt a little bit, but worth it.

We First Walked into the cook in an argument with a customer.
All their customers started complaining shortly after.
I had my pickup for a customer in the window after waiting 30 minutes for their food. I waited as all the customers were addressed that came into the store after me.
Normally with deliveries they get you in and out but this place had me wait 30-40 minutes, and then wait again as the food sat. As I found an opportunity to ask an employee to hand me the order, their reply was only that He didn’t know about it.

They may have good food but I would not order carry out here, and also prepare to have extra patience and the ability to handle a very toxic environment.

This place is awesome. The sandwiches are fresh, full of flavor, and made with high-quality ingredients. I had the pastrami on rye — it was delicious and packed with meat. The staff was super friendly and quick, and the whole place felt clean and welcoming.
Prices are good for what you get, and the portions are big. Definitely coming back. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great deli!

Must Try if you haven’t. Turkey with Swiss on Rye; Toasted Lean Corned Beef with Swiss on Rye I’ve been going to this Location for over 10 years. You can make at least, 1 extra sandwich.

The Turkey Swiss on Rye, taste better if toasted. Very Juicy and Tender. I’ve been to 2 Locations, Livonia and Oak Park. The Lean Corned Beef is better at the Original Bread Basket Deli, NO FAT.

My family and I have been coming to this restaurant my entire life, and it truly never disappoints. The food is absolutely incredible—hands down the best sandwiches I’ve ever had anywhere. Every bite is fresh, flavorful, and made with so much care.

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the kind of place where you instantly feel at home. It’s family-owned, and you can really tell—this is one of the kindest, most hardworking families in town. They put their heart into everything, from the quality of the food to the way they treat every single customer.

If you’re looking for a place that combines amazing food with genuine hospitality, look no further. Whether it’s lunch or dinner, this spot is always a winner. I can’t recommend it enough—this is a true gem in our community!

This is a family favorite, the BEST place to get a reuben in metro Detroit, but all the sandwiches are amazing. We have never been disappointed! Get an 8oz anything hot with grilled bread and a Faygo and you can’t go wrong.

Great cornbeef sandwiches! I got extra to bring back to home. My sister left her purse, and the owner ran across the parking lot to find us. Luckily we had stopped at the gas station near by. We were thank for the food and kindness.
