I literally LOVE katsu bar!!

I have been here over 6 times in the past year, and it’s my go-to place for a katsu sando! I always bring my friends here when they visit, and they’re never disappointed

I HIGHLY recommend the pork katsu sando (it’s actually juicier than the chicken; I ordered the chicken once and was kinda sad it wasn’t as juicy as I was expecting). I’ve had every variety of the katsu sando, and they’re all delicious !!!

My other go-to is the the egg sando! The eggs are perfectly seasoned, and the combination of mashed and sliced eggs come together for the perfect variety of textures in an egg sando

The katsu sandwich (cutlet on an artisanal burger bun rather than white bread) is my friend’s go-to order and also really good! There’s a higher carb-to-meat ratio, so it’s good for when you want more carbs or are really hungry! The bread is perfectly toasted yet pillowy, and balances out the cutlet fantastically

I also love their gangjang chicken (you can tell by how many times it’s featured) which reheats really well in both the microwave and the oven/airfyer!

Their strawberry sando is also DELICIOUS–a bit of a messy eat since the sandwiches are cut horizontally and not diagonally, but the cream is so thick and luscious, and the strawberries are somehow always perfectly ripe and just sweet yet tart enough to balance out the cream. An absolute must-try!!

The only item I don’t absolutely love is the tteokbokki–it’s on the sweeter side, which isn’t my personal preference, but the texture is really chewy and has a slight crisp from being fried.

Overall, I REALLY recommend this place for anyone who loves katsu sandos !!

Spent the day in Irvine with my siblings. I’ve seen this spot all over socials, so I was excited to take them here for lunch.

Parking: Free parking lot.

Ambiance/Environment: It’s very clean inside. They have a small indoor space with limited seating. There’s plenty of outdoor seating. There’s two self ordering kiosk. Once you walk in, place your order, take a seat, and a worker will bring out your food to you.

Service: We didn’t catch her name, but she was courteous and attentive. Throughput was under 10 minutes after ordering. She brought out our food and surprisingly knew where we sat.

Foods: We ordered all chicken Katsu!

1. Caprese Salad Katsu – If you’re going for something simple and light, then this is the dish for you. The sauce with the arugula was delicious. They’re generous with the Katsu, and the tomato and mozzarella were fresh.

2. Strawberry Sando – Perfect dessert to end off our lunch! It wasn’t too sweet or heavy. The strawberries were fresh, and the cream was light.

3. Nashville Hot Chicken – The burger is big! My siblings and I looove the sauce! It was sweet then the spice creeps up on you during the aftertaste. The chicken was cooked well and seasoned perfectly. We also enjoyed the fries.

4. Katsu Plate – Another simple yet delicious dish. It came with a lot of Katsu, a scoop of rice, coleslaw, radish, and mac salad. We absolutely enjoyed this dish too!

5. Mala Ramen w/ Katsu – Wooo the Mala was spicyyy! Now this is what I call mala haha. The bowl was larger than expected. I appreciated the generous amount of Katsu and noodles given!

6. Yubu Pockets: buldak, egg salad, spicy tuna, bulgogi – These were over-filled to the top! It had a thin layer of tofu with rice on the bottom and filling on top.

7. Caprese Katsu Sando – The sandos were cut thin and filled with katsu and vegetables, and served with fries. This tasted like the other dishes but in a Sando.

Pricing: Definitely worth it! My siblings and I loved everything! Presentation and plating was on point.

I think this is my 2nd time here, and the food is fine. My review here is on the customer service and follow up. My family went and ordered 2 chicken plates to go, we opened them and ate them down the street at another restaurant where my son wanted to eat. We opened them up and realized we received one fish and one chicken plate, and the fish plate had a hair in it, I udnerstand it happens, but still gross.

I went back to the store to see if I could get my money back or something, since it’s not what I ordered and there was a hair in it.
The cook and cashier tried to do something w/ the register but explained they can’t do anything with the order since the owner wasn’t there. No other attempt at helping me out here. They took my name and number down and promised the owner would call/text to help me out. It’s been 4 days and no contact has been made. It’s not about the money, but you would think if the restaurant made a mistake and said the owner would contact you, that would be a priority.

Needless to say, I don’t plan on coming back here. Like I said, the food is fine, but ignoring a customer when they made a mistake and a hair in the food…

First time visitor and I was both disappointed and surprisingly satisfied at the same time. The Korean Gang Jung was extremely dry, almost to the point of being inedible. We didn’t eat much of them. The Curry Udon Katsu and Curry Shrimp and Katsu with rice were rather tasty, so I think I’d reserve my full opinion to another visit. Service was fast and friendly. There’s limited seating inside.

I love going to Katsu Bar for all things katsu! They have a varied and consistent menu and feature weekday lunch specials. We enjoyed SO MUCH GOOD FOOD. I was also super satisfied with the friendly service and how FAST it was. I think all our food came out within 10 ish minutes. All of the katsu were hot, crispy, and delicious. Also, I appreciate that they weren’t super fatty (?). As in, they are using good quality meat not just the cheap fatty part. My favorites were the strawberry sando and shrimp curry plate. It was my first time having a fruit sando and the milk bread is super soft and lightly sweet. Very good! Shrimp is nicely breaded! I just wish there was more curry!

I will definitely be coming back here with friends!

This is my go-to place for a katsu sandwich. The katsu is perfectly seasoned and perfectly crispy, perfect with their waffle fries. The portion sizes are good, the service is fast, and the interior of the store is clean! Everything I could want for a quick lunch break.

My go-to order with a friend is a katsu sandwich with fries, and my friend gets a katsu sandwich with curry. If you share, you get the best of both worlds!

Wow!! What a great lunch!! The curry katsu plate and katsu sandwich are just amazing. Super tasty! Extremely enjoyable and highly recommended. The cashier was one of the most friendly staff member we ever encountered at a fast food place. Simply outstanding!

The place is super clean. There was only 1 cashier but she was super organized and friendly. The food was very well presented and tasted good but the meat quality is comparable to fast food. The chicken texture is similar to McDonald’s chicken nuggets but it was still good. You have a choice of pork, chicken or beef hamburger for the katsu. The curry was light and flavorful. We will come back to try their large variety of other menu items.

Great udon and katsu, decent prices and generous portions. We’d definitely come back. This place is supposed to be katsu focused, but they’re udon is actually better than most sit-down restaurants. My wife had the Wednesday special of black garlic udon and she loved it. I had the spicy katsu sandwich and it was really good. Very large piece of chicken with a tasty sauce.

I didn’t know Portobello katsu curry was a thing. Where has it been all my life? If you love portobello mushrooms like I do, I recommend trying the portobello katsu curry with rice.
I had originally ordered a portobello katsu sandwich. The cashier misunderstood me and brought out the Portobello katsu curry rice plate instead. Oopsy!!! I’m glad that he did, or I wouldn’t know how this new dish that I tried for the first time would be so yummy!! He gave me a free iced green tea for bringing the wrong order. The food was great and awesome service!!
As I was sitting out in the patio area to do my devotional, the cashier came out and said, I read your review. Here’s a thank you!!
He gave me free tiramisu!! I’ve been craving a tiramisu, too. God always gives you the desire of your heart when you show kindness, especially to restaurant workers or anyone in the customer service industry. A little kindness goes a long way.
