Anton’s – Review – West Village – New York – The Infatuation

Anton’s is a throwback restaurant in the West Village where you’ll want to eat pasta and drink a martini.

A lovely restaurant. Staff is very friendly and the food was great. I would definitely go back. We had already reservations prior so no wait time.

We recently had our anniversary lunch at Anton‘s on Labor Day, and we had such a great experience. It’s very non-auspicious, but still giving respect to both food and drink, and it’s offerings. My roast beef sandwich was exquisite, much easier and enjoyable to eat than many of the “viral“ French dips that you hear about- from the bread, to the horseradish, to the perfectly caramelized onions of different varieties, to the amount of meat making it actually edible. The au jus was also rich in flavor. My wife loved her Hand-cut Angel Hair Francese, in fact, her raving about the pasta was the majority of our conversation. Once we received our entrées – incredibly deep in flavor, and the garlic breadcrumbs were a delight to me. We actually started with dessert, and some chocolate rugelach- somehow better than fresh Zabar’s, and double in size – my wife said they almost had a croissant quality to them. Had a few glasses of my favorite pilsner for special occasions- Rothaus Tannenzäpfle, and my wife enjoyed the rose by the glass from Provence. All in all, I think we found a new favorite spot in the West Village.

Advised on this spot from a theater friend (with the most absurdly amazing taste. Thanks Annie!). I was expecting some high-brow bullshit, like is the norm in these parts ( ::sighs, drags a gauloises:: ) But alas… The vibes immaculate and the bar a healthy mix of true industry folk (that’s the restaurant industry mind you, and seemed like some real players!), young smart-money private banker types with cute girlfriends, and cultured middle aged dates. The decor is old school NYC like I miss. The bathrooms smelled amazing but the storage wasn’t locked: That’s a good sign of clientele! The fixtures: real bronze. Relatively attentive bar staff from sauntering in at near-close, and a great mix of everything I seek in the neighborhood. International gastronomiques unite! Bon soir! Kindness is KIN-G! Good thoughts, Good words; Good Deeds. GOOD Knight!

Anton’s is a cute lively restaurant in the West Village.
We really enjoyed the vibe, service was friendly and prompt and the menu has a lot of great cocktails and food options (brunch and dinner).
The sliced roast beef with shaved horseradish and the roasted chicken were excellent.

Such a delicious restaurant! Came here for dinner and loved every bite of wha we ordered.
The place is cozy, with covered outdoor seating.
We ordered the mushroom and leek gratin, the chicories hazelnut salad and scallops and every thing was incredibly delicious! The gratin was creamy and rich, the salad very flavorful with a perfectly balanced dressing and the scallops so buttery.
Will definitely be back to try more things on their menu!

Great service and food. A huge fan of the sea bass, kale and capers. It was light, filling but also cooked to perfection. My friend got the chicken which was also delicious. The waiter was attentive and helped us select a white wine for our dishes which worked nicely.

We were recommended Anton’s by a local as we were in town. It was right next to a Jazz club we were going to after. It did not disappoint! The vibe was fantastic, dark, romantic and cozy. From the moment you walk in the hostess stand was very charming. We ordered the halibut and ravioli and both were absolutely phenomenal! The server Joe was great. A fantastic place for date night.

Very unassuming place with amazing food. The rocket salad was the best I’ve had in a long time. Steak was perfection. And the chocolate tart dessert was so good that I forgot to take a photo.

Came here on a date for a late lunch. This spot is known to be pretty popular and usually hard to get into, so I was curious to see what the hype was about.

We started with half a dozen raw oysters—$26 for basic East Coast oysters was definitely overpriced!

We shared two pastas: the Lemon Fettuccine with fava beans topped with breadcrumbs was solid but it was a bit too oily. The Bucatini Baczynsky was just okay… nothing memorable.

Overall, it was just OK. I had better pastas. Meh.
