Probably the best BBQ spot I’ve had! This is a must-visit if you’re anywhere near the Hilo area. The meat melts in your mouth, perfectly smoked and tender, and the portions are generous enough to satisfy any appetite. Each plate comes with flavorful rice, hearty beans, and a surprisingly delicious coleslaw that adds the perfect crunch and balance. The mac n cheese with pulled pork on top was next-level — creamy, cheesy, and packed with smoky goodness. It’s a true hidden gem with serious flavor. Don’t miss it!

In one of the most unique experiences, I never thought I would find some of the best barbecue in Hawaii. I stumbled upon uncle Bob’s BBQ. On Google maps I read the reviews and the raves people said and they made me hungry. There are other popular spots on the island however the way customers referred to Bob’s food, intrigued me. I decided to try it for myself, and I must say I did not disappoint. The brisket was my favorite tender flavorful melt in your mouth. I recommend coming early as there was no more mac & cheese, which I was looking forward to in addition I would prefer my food to be Super hot right out of the grill, which is why I would come earlier. Nevertheless, my experience eating Bob’s BBQ has been one of bliss dining and a meal I will cherish for the rest of my life!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ BBQ like this is hard come by. We got the brisket subbing cole slaw for Mac and cheese, and a combo subbing Cole slaw for corn bread.
Of the three meats in the combo the ribs were the clear winner but they all were 5 stars. The Mac and cheese was creamy and the cornbread was almost the consistency of a muffin. Will happily go there again. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Amazing food. I’m not much of a bbq kinda girl (prefer seafood) but the couple times I had their food, no complaints. Told their brisket was amazing. Had to get my hands on that and I was so happy I got to try it right before they ran out! My kids love their pulled pork mac n cheese. Hands down good food. Nice staff. Very friendly and professional. Round of applause to the cook(s) and everyone that works there! Definitely I’ll be a returning customer!

We stopped here for takeout during our weekend on Hawai’i. I had no idea that such high quality barbeque existed on the islands. Definitely compares to some of the better barbeque I’ve had in the Carolinas and Virginia. I highly recommend stopping here!

1st and never again. I phoned order about 2 hours early had hope it would be ready nope I had the beef brisket tough and fatty all 4 pieces wife had Combo pulled pork, beef brisket and pork ribs she just didn’t like the taste. I was unsure when i got here as the sign says Crazy grandmas’. We almost headed back out but the server/owner(?) ushered as in and told us that they only have a brisket sandwich , pork ribs and pulled pork, we both said its fine. The decor is outdated, but if youre willing to let that slide, the food is awesome. That chili beans!!! The brisket, pulled pork and ribs are tender, flavorful and smoked to perfection. Pleasantly surprised but always a good indocator when locals are eating there. Love the family vibe,the food is impeccable.

This place is SO GOOD!! We were exploring the island today and just stumble upon Uncle Bobs while googling where to eat. Go early if you want the full selection. The portion sizes are generous. The coleslaw was peppery and I loved it. The ribs were tender and the sauce on them was to die for.
We got order in like 5 minutes.
Definitely a dive bar atmosphere. “Bob” is super friendly and a very good Grill Master!

Food was ready as soon as I got there.
Hot and amazing. Best BBQ this side of the (insert some river here, it doesn’t matter which one cause it’s amazing BBQ). Sauces are amazing, brisket falls off the fork, pulled pork is sweet and savory and fluffy. Cornbread and Cole slaw are delicious and unique. Such great flavor combos for a complete BBQ dinner.
Recommended it to friends before my fingers were clean, no lie.
