We decided last minute tongst Chinese food for dinner. BEST DECISION EVER!!! We ended up getting Sweet and Sour Chicken dinners and the General Tzo dinner and their amazing Egg Drop Soup. . The food is always piping hot. The portions are very generous as well. Everyone that works there are also very friendly. They always have a friendly hello. If you are looking for a place to eat downriver that is really good, that will fill you up and wont break the bank..I highly recommend New China Inn. I promise you will not be disappointed.

After a solid two months of deep-dive research to find the best spot as a transplant, I finally pulled the trigger—and the payoff was real. This is a true ‘hidden gem’ vibe. The dining room is still in full ‘takeout-only’ mode, no front staff, no frills, just pure culinary hustle. Sesame chicken and General T’s both delivered, fresh, flavorful and strong portions. I might have found my new Chinese spot. It’s been so difficult to find a Chinese place that’s any good in the Downriver area. A friend of mine had mentioned this place. So I gave it a try a few days ago and was pretty impressed.
First off, the women that took my order over the phone was very friendly, which hasn’t been the case with other Chinese restaurants that I’ve visited in the past. She also seemed very organized.
For food, I ordered the almond chicken. My friend ordered the coconut chicken. While the coconut chicken wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, my almond chicken was great. The portion size was very big.
The egg rolls are top tier, much like some of the other reviews mention.
The prices are definitely worth it for the portion size. I could not finish my meal in one sitting.
Keep in mind that this place is carryout only.
Overall, this place is definitely worth the visit. The portion sizes make it well worth the price. As far as food quality, the egg rolls are what I was most impressed with. I cannot wait to try some of the other dishes.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting New China Inn again, and it continues to be one of my favorite takeout spots for consistently wonderful food. I come here often, and my go-to dishes are the almond chicken and sesame chicken. The almond chicken is perfectly cooked moist on the inside with a crisp, golden exterior while the sesame chicken has just the right amount of tang to make my taste buds soar.
Their egg rolls are absolutely delectable, and the won ton soup is super flavorful and comforting perfect additions to any meal.
On top of the great food, I always enjoy the friendly service. I especially appreciate getting cashed out by my favorite staff member; it’s always a pleasure to catch up for a moment during my visit.

Really great. The portions are huge! Even the egg roll was giant. Great value.
Food is also really tasty! The lomein is the best lomein I ever had. The beef tasted fresh and juicy, was not rubbery or overcooked.

A very solid take out Chinese restaurant. We have had the General Tso’s and Coconut chicken, wonton soup, and egg rolls. The only gripes I would have is that the fried rice is a bit bland and the steamed white rice was a bit on the dry side like it had been in the steamer all day. The egg rolls are also not the cabbage heavy kind that I like, but they’re still not bad. The staff is very polite and prompt. Always service with a smile and kind words. One of the best options downriver and will probably be our new regular outside of China Star. Prices are fine and large servings.

The food is great and we’ve been coming here for last couple of months but watch how much you are being charged. I ordered 5 combos, two were sweet and sour at 11.50 I think a piece, Two were general tso for 12.25 a piece and one was chicken egg foo young at what she said was I think 14.00 when I asked (which is high in my opinion but the meal was not on the menu for pricing) My bill came to 75.00 and some odd change.. when I asked how much everything was she upcharged me 1 dollar on every meal compared to what is says on their menu right on the table in front of the register and from what she said everything was there was still 6 dollars missing.. I could have stood there and argued but I’m not one for conflict. I just wanted to let it be known that no matter how great the food is, I will no longer be ordering from an establishment who is over charging compared to menu pricing. It’s ridiculous.

Best Chinese food I’ve ever had! General Tsos chicken 10/10 huge chunks of chicken and not just all breading. Just a hint of spice. The woman at the front counter was extremely nice and patient with the very long line of customers. Still took time to ask how my day was. Highly recommend!

Been going since I was 5! Food is amazing but service absolutely sucks. If you close at 9 you close at 9 you don’t stop taking orders 50 mins prior to close. I’ve been a loyal customer for years and years and this for me was the last draw. I can see 15-20 mins and I’d never call like that but almost a hour and then I send my daughter in there 30 mins to close because no answer and they turn her away. Your business will eventually pay for this in the long run. To much competition to play your customers like that especially the ones from the beginning
