Veteran Mexican hideout behind an old church serves mole, margaritas & occasional tequila tastings.

The good thing is that the staff are polite and the place appears to be clean. But the food itself was utterly disgusting. The corn chips were over-fried pieces of cardboard with an aftertaste of old overheated oil. The salsa was insipid. The chicken enchiladas were as flavorful as sawdust with a cheese little better than curdled baby’s milk. The steak fajita had a small improperly cut of spongy meat alternating with tough fibers taken from an old Army boot sole. There was no sour cream, sauces or seasonings at all. The rice were as dry as wood chips and about as tasty. I simply could not finish it even halfway. This place makes Taco Bell look positively gourmet. Hard Pass!

Maria’s is the absolute best in Rochester. I know people fawn over the other place, MA, but that has nothing on Maria’s. Time after time Maria’s is just hands down the best.
Maybe nostalgia plays a part, but everyone I’ve ever brought to Maria’s absolutely loves it, and becomes a devoted patron.
The staff is all amazing, the margaritas are phenomenal, and it is just a charming place all together. If you’re in Rochester and never have been, go. If you’re just visiting Rochester, go.
It’s in the very bottom of The Old Church Mall, go in via the back where the main parking lot is. Get the margaritas, Holy Molé, & Mexican Flag. Really you can’t go wrong any way you go here. And the Guac Taco is amazing. FYI, default is a semi fried (I think) soft shell which is amazing.

We started as just 2 in our party. As we sat, family and friends reached out for dinner plans and our party grew. Maria’s staff accommodated us with grace and care as we grew to a table of 9. Maria’s staff resat us and provided excellent and pleasant service. One in our party has special food needs. Staff and kitchen provided wonderful food prepared to meet and exceed the tough requirements of our guest. Maria’s excellent skill and customer service turned a few of our party into new regular dinner guests. Thank you Marias!!

The food is okay. Not a lot of spice , some subtle flavors here and there, good quantity for the price.
Margaritas are good and they have a lot of different flavors.
Staff were great and overall the experience was good. We left full and satisfied.
The overall take away, simpler fare, good prices and food staff.

it’s never a good sign when you walk into a mexican establishment and the workers and everyone eating there is white. don’t get me wrong i am white myself but we are not beating the stereotype. this was some of the blandest food i have ever experienced. it’s genuinely hard to mess up mexican food so im kinda impressed they were able to pull it off. i got the mexican flag enchiladas and the verde sauce one (i don’t even know what meat it was supposed to be it was grey and tasted like turkey) was inedible. the pork one was somehow dry and wet at the same time. finally, the chicken one was ok. but that’s about it. the rice had no veggies or even seasoning really. and the refried beans tasted like dog water. it would be okay if the atmosphere was palatable but there was no music and felt like there was an evil force looming over me, not even joking my sister and i felt better the second we stepped out the door. if you respect your tastebuds or yourself do not go here.

This place is delicious! I got the chicken burrito with beans and rice half order of holy moly and my husband got the chorizo burrito. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious and the prices are reasonable and the service is excellent. I highly recommend I think it’s better than Adelitas in Pittsford or any Mexican restaurant around. We will definitely be back!! The portions are very generous, but not too much food they are just right.

Tucked away on the first floor of a church-turned-market is Maria’s, which we happened upon on our journey around Rochester. It was worth the search and discovery!
We had delicious chips and salsa and homemade guac to start – the latter freshly made and perfectly served. The house margaritas weren’t too sweet – a real homemade taste – and came rimmed with salt. The boy had a tasty pink lemonade.
For dinner, the enchiladas were savory and filling – I had three of the five filings, and each hit the spot. The made to order bean and cheese mole entree dish was made especially for a vegetarian – our server had no problem substituting for vegetarian, and freely offered vegan options had we required them. The kid had a chicken taco he described as “the perfect taco,” and a side of rice and beans – though he filled up on the guac.
The service was personable and attentive, and at times genuinely friendly. The place was full of satisfied regulars, and the tables were clean and felt bright in the natural light.
We left quite full and also quite glad.
One note: we parked out front by the street and enjoyed winding our way through the church, but clearly most folks park around back. It’s worth the trek!

Have been going to this restaurant for 35 years and it genuinely never disappoints. All their food is delicious and service is fast. Have been getting pickup more lately and it it travels well. You cannot go wrong here.

Always enjoy this place. They have the best refried beans in Webster, there I said it. Glad to be in the dining room again. The lobster quesadilla was really good, who doesn’t love a Mexican flag entree or tres leches cake. I had a starfruit margarita, the pumpkin one was ok, keep innovating! Only downside was the mini-split that occasionally blowing cool air.

When did the definition of a fajita change? For $22 I received a quarter of a chicken breast, rice that tasted like it was cooked with hose water and a Taco Bell style cheese roll up. Not a seasoning in sight. They said, “these are traditional fajitas”… well I’ve been to about every Mexican restaurant in the greater Rochester region and we need a fact check on that. Mexico would be pissed. Big bummer. Would not suggest.
