I almost want to give it five stars because it has excellent vegan food. I would likely give it five stars if it was all vegan. I really want to give it five stars though because it’s so good! And they do have great options like a tempeh dish which is unique and the typical vegan platter. I’m only giving the weights that four stars because he made me wait until after they opened and it was cold outside and he decided it was more important to turn on some silly snow lights and the open sign before letting me in. Obviously I’ve been standing there waiting for them to open has he made eye contact with me. He was a nice guy though! It just didn’t make sense to make me wait outside. They open at 4:00 on Saturday. He let me in a few minutes after 4:00 after fiddling with the lights. And it was freezing out! I might be Petty here but it’s something they should think about.

Really enjoyed the experience at Addissae! The food was so delicious and lovingly prepared. We ordered the vegetarian sampler and the lamb tibbs, all was served family style on a big platter. Beautiful colors and savory aromas made for a delightful sensory experience. The injera was light and fluffy, fun experience to roll up different morsels and to eat with your hands. The service was friendly and welcoming, attentive but not overbearing. Our server even took the time to tell us a little about the interesting pictures of rural Ethiopian life on the walls. It was a chilly night so we also ordered some hot tea, which was infused with cinnamon and other spices- nice warm up! Well with a visit for a little something different.

Been twice now. The food is delicious, especially the Vegetarian Platter. We love the Injera bread, and their Tibs are a must try!
I don’t know their names, but the woman and gentleman working were the same ones we had seen the previous time, and they’re extremely kind and get the job done.
My one complaint is after we eat – both times, there seems to be a delayed time for waiting for the check. I’m not gonna say it’s bad service, it’s just a tad slow. to be fair, if it’s a small staff I can’t complain too much, there’s probably more going on i can’t see.
Other than that, if you want great food, inside and out, kind staff, and a cozy environment, come check this place out!

Tried Ethiopian cuisine in Asheville yesterday—it was okay. Definitely not on the same level as the amazing spots I’ve been to in DC, but it still hit the spot. The injera was a bit thicker than I’m used to, and the flavors weren’t quite as bold, but overall it was a satisfying meal. If you’re craving Ethiopian food and find yourself in Asheville, it’s worth giving it a try. Just go in with moderate expectations and enjoy the experience!

Very authentic, Ethiopian food. Waiters were too nice, the dude had the biggest smile and was so kind. Food was the best we’ve had, the tempeh tibs were incredible, even if you eat meat the veggie platter and tempeh was too good! Also if you get the veggie platter, and tempeh tibs, total was only $36. For the states Ethiopian and proportions very good price. Just don’t go alone and they’ll give you lots of food hahah

This place is amazing! They are always incredibly nice and so happy to have you dine with them. The food is delicious and is good both to eat there and take out! Highly recommend the vegetarian platter, the Lamb Tibbs, and the spicy beef stew!

My fiancé and I tried this place for the first time tonight and the food was phenomenal. We shared the vegetarian and meat sampler family style so we could try as much as possible. It was perfect for sharing. We’re already excited to come back and try more. I do love my spice so I’m hoping when we order individual dishes next time, we can get a little extra heat added. It was a busy night and it looked like only two people were handling service, but that didn’t stop the hospitality. They did an amazing job. Thank you for a wonderful dinner and experience.
