Navy Proof Food & Spirits re-awakens the jovial ritual of the sailors of our past, swapping maritime stories over the rationed spirits they held so dear. “Navy Proof” was a term coined by sailors for the daily rum rations given to them by the British Royal Navy in the 1700s. The historic tale says that the sailors would “prove” the strength of their rum rations by pouring it on gunpowder & igniting it to ensure it had not been watered down.

Located inside the Westin Long Beach. The drinks were delicious and the food was good too. We visited during the Christmas break and the service was extremely slow. The acai bowl and pancakes from the breakfast menu were a hit. Highly recommend the charred Brussel for lunch/dinner.

I was at the Westin for an event and ate dinner here. The food was good and the service was friendly and prompt. I had the Braised Short Rib and couldn’t find anything to complain about. It was tender and juicy with a nice flavor. Dessert was the 5 Layer Chocolate Cake. It was rich and dense, but not heavy. My only complaint was the persistent fly that kept buzzing around us. The prices were appropriate given the location. Overall, it’s not a bad place to eat if you’re staying or visiting here. You won’t be disappointed.

My partner was working in the area and we decided to go here for a dinner. The menu looked bomb but after eating there, the prices aren’t worth the flavor of the food. I believe we were paying mostly for the portion rather than the quality or taste. I ordered the ahi tuna appetizer thinking it was going to be the size of a typical app but when it came out it looked like a full entree with all of the rice. When I got my crusted fish entree, I was way too full to finish and had to take the rest home. The food tasted very bland and had no personality. The steak grilled cheese was pretty good and I imagine the flavor from that came from the beef, cheese and butter. Probably will never come again as it was mere convenience and they get 4 stars for good service.i

Exceeded my expectations on all fronts. The shrimp and calamari is excellent. The salmon has that perfect crisp and is served with quinoa and veggies. Highly recommend the brussel sprouts. The carrot cake was a bit dense, but we still enjoyed it. The key lime pie was sharp and tasty.
I would visit this restaurant even if not staying at this hotel.

This place is located inside of Westin hotel, there are parking lot and it costs $30 full day or you can park on the meter 2 hours =$2, so it’s convenient.
We had lunch here the other day and everything was great except spicy tuna bowl. That dish was just not my type of dish 🙂 I love poke and rice bowl, but pan seared tuna steak had a slightly weird taste, and I didn’t like combination with edamame and raw carrots but other than that great spot 🙂
Our server was extra attentive, professional and friendly.
They have happy hour starting 3 pm until 6 pm (I believe) and garlic feta french fries are the best, good drinks selection, my friend loved the crab cakes.

I actually ordered via room service so I didn’t expect that mg food will be in a paper box lol
However, the food tasted great. I usually do not prefer Nashville style chicken but the one from here tasted great. It was so crispy but juicy, too.
The roasted beet salad was fresh and a perfect mix of sweet, earthy and citrusy flavors. This is the type of salad that I can eat everyday.

I give it a overall 5 stars , the atmosphere is posh , elegant and relaxed . Lots of comfortable places to sit around here and besides the bar . The food quality great and awsome staff . I added the menu pictures in the post too .

It’s an elevated bar. It’s quite pricey, but the quality is immaculate. We had the scallops and a few drinks. We definitely would recommend for a nice relaxing night out to just unwind.
