This restaurant is in a great location in boystown and the food, staff and owner are great. We came here on our first date and every chance we get we return and have never been let down. This time we went on Halloween night and it was fun to see everyone dressed in cute costumes. A must visit location.

We had a group of 10 people on a Tuesday night, so the restaurant was not overly busy. Multiple people in our group had issues with the service, food & drinks, but I’m only going to speak on my own issues. My husband ordered the burrito suizo dinner & the plate came out looking like enchiladas. Our server accidentally gave the plate to another friend who ordered enchiladas. Once the server realized the error, it was already too late because our friend had started eating. So the server took the plate back to the kitchen to re-make it. The second plate was covered in onions when we already told the server that my husband can’t eat onions. Once again, the plate was taken back to the kitchen. When my husband finally received his food, it was fresh/hot, but their idea of a burrito suizo is 3 individually rolled tortillas with meat inside, covered in sauce & cheese. Bland & boring. Not what the husband was hoping for. Moving on to my plate, I ordered the chicken mole dinner. Again, everything was fresh/hot, but they gave me a LARGE plate with 2 thin cut pieces of chicken and a LOT of molé sauce, plus a side of rice & beans. While the flavor was good, the amount of food was more suited for a lunch special, not a dinner entrée. The lime margaritas were very good, had so much ice! Over all, while the food & drinks tasted good and the atmosphere was nice, everything was way overpriced for what you receive.

Loud people. Loud place. Popular with sports fans. But the service is horrible. My waiter came to me only once to deliver the food after he had taken the order. He never checked on me once. I had to go get him in order to make a request. I never got a refill on my drink. And then I don’t understand why they think that they should get a tip when they don’t even bother to check on you. I’ve waited tables before and you have to be watching the customer. Don’t take a siesta and talk with your friends up in the front and have a good time while I’m sitting there. Waiting for you to come back and you never come back for 30 minutes I waited.
Also, I have been coming here for 40 years now. My first time was when I was 28. I can tell you safely that the food has gone downhill. They also used to have one of the best red salsas in the city but now they only have a green salsa and it’s not tasty. I asked him for the tomato one and they don’t have it anymore but he didn’t tell me that, he brought out some tomato soup. He assumed he knew what I wanted but he wasn’t listening and obviously he didn’t know the difference.
AND, YES IT IS VERY OVERPRICED. It was always a bit on the expensive side but back then you got what you paid for. However this was also during the time when you could go and buy a burrito for $3 in a burrito shop and it would fill you up for the entire day. They were large. Back then you would spend about $6 to $7 on your food. Now it’s over $22 just for the main dish.
I won’t be going back, ever. If I want to be overcharged but still have something that I like to eat, it’s going to be Caesars on Broadway. They didn’t change their recipes. Thank God something stayed the same…

The place is cute and brings in a lot of familiar neighborhood residents. It’s clean and obviously LGBT friendly since it’s in boys town.
Food was decent and good but I won’t say delicious I’ve eaten at smaller places that had Las Mananitas beat.
The pitcher of margaritas was good and enough alcohol to call it a margarita. Some places just give you juice with a little alcohol for your buck. Anyways the best thing on our plate is the meat .. Carne Asada was delicious. The rice was dry and had no flavor.
I’m taking that it was 8pm on a Sunday and giving them a hall pass for the crappie rice.
Over all if you’re hungry and want Mexican while in the area go for it.
It is not the greatest but it’s not the worst either.

Cost-cutting with premium pricing seems to be the order of the day here. From from the virtually alcohol free $15 margarita, to the stringy, tough boiled chicken in the enchiladas that seemed like it had been frozen for years, and then thawed for our plate, to the bland, nearly tasteless rojo sauce, this place was a disappointment all around. The waiter, while very pleasant and friendly brought me an enchilada plate even though I ordered a burrito, and never brought the additional chips we asked for. We almost never complain directly to staff at restaurants, but this was so bad, we couldn’t lie and say everything was just fine in this case. Nevertheless, the waiter brought our $100 check with a smile.

I called and ordered the Enchilada Suizas to go. I was surprised upon arrival when the total was $25 when this used to be $16ish. I just shrugged it off, paid and left a $5 tip – no biggie. I walked the 5 mins around the block back home, opened the box, and was shocked to see the slop I was given. Everything was mixed together and looked horrible! I carefully carried the bag so there’s absolutely NO way things got this mixed up on the short walk around the corner. I usually don’t make a fuss, however, I decided to call them to leave feedback. The guy was nice but says that I must have caused this but that’s literally impossible. It’s pretty obvious that they just threw the food in the box and/or it was mishandled BEFORE it was given to me. Oh, and he mentioned they raised the prices but $30 for chicken enchiladas is crazy. Needless to say I will not eat here or suggest this place to friends again. Adding a picture of what it looked like before I started to eat it (I added the extra sour cream on top but you get the idea).

Update! I just came here again august 2022. Between this wonderful old school Mexican, Grindr, the bathhouse and now legal edibles, there’s so much to stick in your mouth while visiting Boystown! Love this place so much. They also have a killer Latin playlist always going. I almost asked if it’s a public playlist and if they’d share it. It should be. Wonderful. All around!
Old school American Mexican food done really, really well. This is not a fancy or high end Rick Bayless type of restaurant. This is all the basics in American Mexican style cuisine done right. Everything is solid. I loved the chorizo nachos. The margaritas were good – still a touch sweet (ask for them “skinny”) but fine. The fajitas mixed shrimp, chicken and beef option is fantastic and can feed two alone. The crowd is fun – mostly gays and their hags in Boystown. Good times!!

$7 for each taco is a bit too pricy. But food, service and atmosphere is awesome! This is a great Mexican Restaurant in Boystown!
