If you’re in Middleton, WI, add 1847 at the Stamm House to your list.
This place is packed with history (the building dates back to 1847!) but the food feels modern and elevated. The atmosphere is cozy, warm, and perfect for a date night or dinner with friends.
We started with the truffle fries — crispy, salty, and the perfect way to kick things off. I ordered the 8 oz ribeye with mashed potatoes and a salad, and it absolutely delivered. The steak was cooked perfectly, super flavorful, and paired so well with the creamy mashed potatoes. Simple, classic, and done right.
If you love historic buildings, great cocktails, and upscale American cuisine that focuses on quality ingredients, this one’s worth the visit.

Asked for the private cellar room. We arrived about 15 minutes early. It was freezing. They had two old space heaters running that were supposedly on for 30 minutes before they got there except hey fun fact; those two electric heaters (and a Bluetooth player) were hooked up a single power strip…the surge protector popped after 30 seconds. They kept trying to turn it back on…I ultimately just unplugged one space heater and the bluetooth…and one heater worked.

We could get over that except we got about 2 table visits in 25 minutes. At 40 minutes our appetizers arrived. And somewhere between 60-80 minutes after ordering (for 7 people with a table 20 feet from the kitchen) we got our dinner.

The food was fine.

This was the dinner after our elopement and my bride’s parents were treating the small 7 person group to dinner. The restaurant offered no explanation for their failures. Her parents are only kind and understanding.

Im actually moat disappointed in how they were treated. Had they been respectfully apologized to, I would not have mentioned anything at all. The rest of our day was perfect, the experience at Stamm wasn’t horrible by any means but I can’t just sit here and not say something when the kindest most wonderful people spend so much money on the people they love.

1 star event, you get 2 stars because the food was good.

This place deserves a 5-star rating for all the details I noticed during my visit. ✨

The building is deeply rooted, built back in 1847. ️ ️ The food was Michelin-star level, and the environment was unforgettable. ️

I loved every detail and I wish to come back again.

Went for our anniversary. Had high expectations for the price of the food and it was good.

Favorite part of the whole meal was the delicious French fries!

Loved the aioli and cheese curds on the burger.

I’m almost embarrassed to admit that I lived in Madison from 1987 to 2001 and during that time had never gone to the restaurant. I was in town visiting my son, who now lives in Middleton, and after looking at the menus of various restaurants, we decided to go here. Absolutely fabulous food, and friendly and attentive service, we both loved our meals! Because we splurged on appetizers, we ended up not being able to finish our entrees, but next time we hope to try some of their fabulous looking desserts!

I went to Stamm House for my birthday dinner while visiting family in Wisconsin. Food and drinks were great, the menu offers a wide variety so everyone’s happy but the quality has always been top notch across the board when I’ve been. I wanted to personally shout out Luke for the best table service I’ve had eating out in years. He was quick, receptive, and informative. It was refreshing to have service with personality and humor. He was running up and down the stairs, taking care of us and others, but slowed down and gave us great attention while at the table. Thanks for a memorable dinner!

This is such a great place ! We had made a reservation in advance and were seated right away .
It is a quaint historical looking building but is fairly spacious . The service was great and prompt and the food was delicious! They had a little kids menu with some activities on it that kept our daughter entertained for a bit. Will definitely go again.

Breaded & pan fried baby perch, mashed potatoes, wilted fresh spinach, slaw and fixings. Best fish fry in Middleton. Many thanks to Manager Reed for a great experience! You need to eat here asap. They also have hash brown encrusted walleye! Not enough Fridays on my trip lol.

It was a busy night with only one server upstairs, but with folks helping drop off the dishes it helped a lot. I chose this location to be for my birthday meal as I loved the rich history and haven’t been able to visit (i work nearby) yet. I was eager to see the inside and try the menu. I ordered the Blood Orange Bourbon Sour and that was lovely. We tried thr cheese curds, very melt in your mouth buttery goodness. My husband got the sirloin with roasted potatoes and tossed greens. The dressing on the greens is a strong vinaigrette which was a nice balance with the richness of the potatoes and sirloin. The sirloin was ok, maybe the cut was making the meat more chewy than melt in your mouth type. I had the shrimp and scallops with penne. It was good, the scallops were a bit overdone but there were only two so that’s fine. I had the pumpkin pie and that was well spiced (all spice, as it wasn’t too nutmeg, too cinnamon or clovy). Overall good food, but perhaps we just didn’t choose the right meal for our first visit as we felt that we should come back before recommending.
