Decent pizzeria, service was slowww, had to wait good half hour for 1 pizza with basic toppings.

Good atmosphere, you can smell the coal fired pizza ovens to give a nice NYC feel to the place.

Pizza itself wasn’t bad but nothing much outstanding about it either.Jalapenos as a topping were pickled which is the only standout part.

Meh experience overall!

Authentic NY pizza at its best! 10/10. The crust has a perfect coal-fired taste and the sauce-to-cheese ratio is exactly right—no soggy slices here. Make sure to save room for the Trio Dessert; the New York cheesecake is elite. Super creamy and rich. I’ll be back!

I started with a bridge board, not worth it. Not fresh. The bread was dry and the meats and fruit, not fresh as I said. I thought they would redeem on the pizza, but no. Pizza is too thin and so it had no support in the middle, just sags! By the time I ate one piece, the pizza was cold because it’s a sheet of paper, but the crust is burnt, my fingers were charred and most of the crust not edible. The staff was ok, the host was nice and my server was not “unfriendly”, but it was a “hurry up and go” kind of vibe. Did not ask if we wanted refills or how the food was. The 2 stars is for the sauce and cheese, I do find the sauce and cheese tasty, now they just gotta figured out the dough thickness and temperature. Just needs more heart and flavor. Also, adding some wings and Coca Cola products, may draw me in to try again but until then, Im going elsewhere.

Why is your pizza so saucy? Why does it have so little toppings? We paid $35 for a PIZZA and it left a lot to be desired! It took too long for such a thin pizza and it was either under cooked or the sauce was so heavy that we couldn’t even pick it up to eat it! The service was good and it smelled amazing but the pizza was sub par! We will not be going back!

Updated review: I visited this spot again but this time I disappointed with the pizza. It was not the same consistency which I had earlier. We tried the Margherita pizza, it was too saucy.

Old review: I had no idea how good this place would be! The ambience was top-notch, and the food was absolutely delicious. We tried the Margherita pizza, with the draft beer which was really good. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Grimaldi’s is a wonderful stop in the Domain area of north Austin.

Street parking may be difficult in the Domain; however there are a number of parking garages and the entire area is designed for walking/foot traffic.

The restaurant has a pleasant decor, a little dark inside; but kind of comfortable. The “outdoor” area was completely enclosed when we visited…perhaps that was due to time of year… Christmas-ish ’25. Sat “outside” which was very comfortable.

Ordered the Caprese for an appetizer. The fresh mozzarella was good as was the basil and olive oil, the tomato was a little underwhelming; but did just fine.

Our server brought out bread and vinegar and oil; which was enjoyable.

Ordered the Margherita pizza which was excellent. Baked in their coal-fired oven. Very nice crispy crust, wonderful flavor.

Ordered the Mille Gradi Sangiovese to drink; which was recommended by our server. Very good.

One note, we stopped in mid afternoon 3 or 4 o’clock-ish, I think; as we were wrapping-up our visit, we were going to get a pizza to go to take home but it didn’t work out. We were right in the time of day where the restaurant re-fires the oven at the “end” of lunch service and the preparation for dinner service. You may want to keep that in mind.

We had a wonderful experience at Grimaldi’s Pizzeria! The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and absolutely perfect for families and kids. The staff was friendly, patient, and made us feel right at home.

We tried the Tuscan Veg Pizza and the Tomato Garlic Bruschetta, and both were fantastic. The Tuscan Veg Pizza had a perfect balance of fresh veggies and that signature coal-fired crust — thin, crisp, and full of flavor. The Tomato Garlic Bruschetta was fresh, vibrant, and seasoned just right, with a great garlic kick.

Overall, Grimaldi’s is an excellent spot for a relaxed family outing with great food and great service. Highly recommended if you’re looking for amazing pizza in a family-friendly setting!

Well we were welcomed by the best host I’ve ever seen in my life. He was so full of energy and opened the door for us. Very prompt with instructions and guiding us to our table. I felt very comfortable from the start. Our waiter took our order but I wasn’t to happy about him not knowing about the drinks alcoholic content. We ordered a drink that he suggested after telling him we don’t drink alcohol. The drink he suggested was alcoholic unbeknownst to him. I would have been very upset simply because I’m recovering from alcoholism. We waited almost 35 min for out pizza to come out and did not receive our jalapeños with it. We notified our waiter and another waiter but still didn’t receive. We finally got our jalapeños when there was literally one slice of pizza left. This definitely didn’t sit well with me because I seen on 2 separate occasions of them just standing around and talking. The food was outstanding the pizza was so fresh and the sauce was seasoned. I enjoyed it. I would recommend this place even after the hiccup. 6/10

Disclaimer: if you are eating here under the assumption this will be anything like the original Grimaldi’s in Brooklyn then you will be sorely disappointed. Unfortunately for us, we are a tad delusional and went in with that mindset.

Let’s start with the good: the staff is very friendly and attentive, the options for pizza are great, and for how busy The Domain can be on any given night it’s nice to be somewhere a bit more relaxed and quiet. The subway station stop decor made us feel a bit at home, which is always a welcome feeling.

And for the bad (or at least not good): the pizza is just severely overpriced, almost comically so. You’re telling me a 12 inch pizza with 2 toppings is pushing $30? If I wanted to be robbed like that I would just go to 6th Street and hand a vagrant my wallet. The food isn’t bad per se, but it just isn’t worth the price it’s set at.

We ordered four pies: The Don, a white pizza with chicken and sun dried tomatoes, a white pizza with spicy sausage and sun dried tomatoes, and a tomato pie with Italian sausage. Aesthetically they all looked great, and the flavors were good as well. We poured a bit of hot honey over our slices which provided it a strong zip of heat alongside some sweetness. The pizza is well balanced and would be considered decent by NY standards.

Altogether Grimaldi’s is a good pizza place handcuffed by the fact that they think they can charge NY prices for Austin pizza.

Over the weekend I visited Grimaldi’s Pizzeria at The Domain in Austin. It was my first time and let’s just say — the pizza was definitely doing what it needed to do.

I ordered a pesto + sausage combo that was flavorful, crisp, and had that fresh-out-the-brick-oven feel. But the real star of the meal? That tiramisu. Creamy, perfectly portioned, and just the right finish after a savory slice.

Shout out to Xavier, our fabulous waiter, who made the entire experience memorable. From his menu suggestions to his attention to detail, he made us feel right at home.

⭐ 4 out of 5 stars
Would absolutely return for a post-branding brainstorming session… or just dessert.
