This was our first time at Briarcliff Barrio and it was a fantastic experience!! The food had great flavor and had a great twist on Mexican cuisine! Our waitress Jenny was amazing and provided the best service we’ve experienced in a while! Atmosphere was great and prices were reasonable!

Nellie was our bartender and she was amazing, she made us feel welcomed and valued. Her margaritas are amazing!!! Highly recommend ordering them. Love coming here all the time for gluten free options and great drinks. ALWAYS GO TO THE BAR IF NELLIE IS THERE. ZOE & DEJA are amazing also!

We selected this place because it was rated 4.2 stars. The food was good but the margaritas were inconsistent. One person got one that was super sour and I got one that just tasted like pure alcohol. We all got fajitas and they were good. I went to wash my hands and the bathroom had no soap. That was concerning . The service was not the best. Not because the waitress was bad, but they didn’t have enough help. She was also running food to other tables so she did not check back aften and we had to wait for things we requested. I would recommend not going during peak times

Came back for a FOURTH time! Brought more friends!! Our waitress was Diamond and she was an absolute delight! Such a beautiful smile and sweet. She kept our drinks full and was very helpful when it came to ordering.
Our friends loved the the place and were very impressed with the quality of food. Great job again . Yall rock!!

Just went back a 3rd time! Brought some friends this time! They loved it too! You guys are awesome!! My favorite spot for barria tacos!!! Gracie was our waitress and she was awesome as well!

Second time visiting here and once again, we LOVED IT! This time we came for my daughter’s birthday. We came on Halloween and our waiter was dressed up as Jim Halpert from the Office (my favorite show!!!!) His real name was Oliver though.
He kept our drinks full and our table clean. You could tell they were short staffed because he was running non stop. But he had a smile on his face the whole time! A great employee.

The food was hot and delicious! We had loaded queso, Barria tacos, beef nachos, and the Burrito Leacha Leibrae*. All of them were so delicious. The chef did a great job.

We can’t wait to come back! Thanks again Barrio!

The service we received was kind of bad, but the food is excellent and fairly priced. Let me explain. We did not receive silverware rolls (the kind that come with cloth napkins).

When I asked the young man who brought us our food if we could have silverware, he said “we’re out of silverware, but your server will bring you some when it’s ready”…so I went to the other side of the restaurant where some was sitting on tables. Because we already had our food and our server was not around. Hungry people judge on a harsh curve.

Additionally, when we got to-go boxes to take our remaining food home, I asked our server (who was personable and friendly) for some additional chips to put in the chip-bag that she brought us – We’d been out of delicious, well seasoned chips since pretty early in the meal. She said ‘yes of course’ and did not return with said chip bag or any chips. Or at all.

Now I’ve worked in restaurants for years myself so I do understand there is a variance in quality of service on a night to night basis. Servers are people with lives and concerns and you never know what a person is going through. I do hope no one else has these issues because all the Barrio locations make an excellent product that stands out against the legion of Mexican and Mexican-adjacent restaurants in KC. But I suspect if we get food from Briarcliff again…it will be carry out.

This was our first visit. The service and the atmosphere of Barrio are over the top good. This is the only saving aspect that earned stars.

The chips for the complimentary chips & salsa were incredibly stale. It seemed like all the seasoning poured over them was an attempt to mask it. Hubby got the seafood enchilada, I got the surf & turf kabobs. The grilled corn on the cobb as a side was petrified and barely warm, like it had been grilled days before, refrigerated and then briefly microwaved for 30 seconds. Again, slathered with a sour cream seasoning sauce that acted as an attempt to doctor up stale food. The rice bed garnish for both dishes, same story. Over cooked rice that seemed like it was left to dry out in the refrigerator for 2-3 days & quickly microwaved.

The only things that tasted freshly cooked were the mains, the enchilada & the kabobs. Both were good. Given the price was reasonable, we considered the cost to be fair pay for the copious, attentive staff they had on hand. But no lie, we won’t be stopping here again. Not when the other restaurants in the same location are far better meal fare.

I’ve been going to Barrio for a long time, but tonight I had the most amazing service I’ve ever received, all thanks to Jenny. She was incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what she does. You can tell she cares about her job and the experience she gives customers, and it really shows.

Jenny made the whole night better, and she deserves some serious recognition. Promote her! You need more people like her. I’ll definitely be back, and I hope I get her as my server again. Thank you, Jenny!

Our family frequently come to Barrio for Dinner typically on Fridays and Saturdays! The Hostess Emory is always friendly and we never wait long to be seated.

Our waitresses Hannah and Alyssa are always on top of everything! Refills, Chips, Salsa, etc. We are always taken care of.

Their manager Shelia always checks on us and asks how are dinner is!

Great location, Great atmosphere, Wonderful Service, and tasty food make this one of my favorite places to dine in KC!

Keep up the good work! ♥️

I love Barrio, the location, the patio, the bar area, all of it… but the drinks are horrible. I have been going to the Briarcliff location regularly, I live close, and I love the atmosphere, and the food is decent.
The drinks could really use an improvement. The sour mix or whatever is used, is not good quality and I want the drinks to be so good. I’ve tried to order a spicy Mezcal margarita and the server recommends the Smoky Paloma- not the same thing. I have had to send my drinks back, I’ve brought friends who have also sent drinks back, not because we’re picky but a good, fresh cocktail shouldn’t be that difficult to make. I firmly believe if they could improve the drinks, this place would be a hit! Get some better agave spirits, and make a good fresh cocktail, it’s not that difficult to have a decent bar program. I really want to love this place and if they had the best margarita around, I think everyone would love it!
