Best burgers around! I occasionally pop in with my teenager to split a Bacon Tig Burger! Never disappoints, always a great atmosphere. Amazing food, huge portions, fair prices. Great family/staff and always a great time. Not for candle light dinner or stuck up people, good, relaxed country folk.

Located just outside of Galeton, the Perma Stone Inn is a bar-and-restaurant combo that seems to be a popular stop for motorcycle riders—there were several bikers enjoying drinks at the bar during our visit. It has a rustic, casual atmosphere, and oddly enough, Nickelodeon was playing on the TV the entire time, which created a strange contrast to the rest of the scene.
The area was very busy during our visit, and it was clear the staff was overwhelmed. While the restaurant claims to be family-friendly, I’d question that due to the loud profanity coming from the kitchen throughout our meal. It seemed like the cooks were either stressed, short-staffed, or just not in the mood to be there, and unfortunately, that energy bled into the overall experience.
We ordered fried pickles, a grilled cheese, chicken tenders, and fries. After nearly an hour wait, everything came out at once. The food itself was fine—the grilled cheese was good (though it’s hard to mess that up), and the pickles and fries were decent. The chicken tenders were average—nothing to rave about, but they got the job done. Also worth noting: no free refills here.
The dining area has a good number of tables and a full bar, but even with some open seating, the service was extremely slow, and we were close to walking out before the food arrived.
I’m giving this place 3 out of 5 stars because there’s potential here, and maybe we just caught them on a bad day. I might give it another shot in the future, but I hope the management works on staff morale and keeping the kitchen chatter more professional for the sake of customers trying to enjoy their meal.

It was okay. Nowhere on the menu did it say that getting your burger dressed up adds .75c for pretty much everything. My mom asked for “extra crispy” bacon— meaning that she wanted her bacon cooked longer so it was crispy and not chewy. I don’t know if they misunderstood, but they charged me $3 (this is my second ever paycheck and I took my mom out to eat) just to cook my mom’s bacon a little longer because she didn’t have more bacon than me, and one piece she had was still chewy. The burger was ok, I wish I wouldn’t have gotten cheese or mayo because the cheese is white American cheese. The bottom half of mine (in picture) was mainly lettuce and I had to take all of it off because it was brown and most spots and had that nasty taste. Not really happy that I spent $65 for burgers we didn’t even finish and gave away to a family member. The fries and pizza logs were pretty good though, they gave us our fires before our burgers after the logs. Just be weary about the added extra prices and don’t order crispy bacon lol.
Also, if you have children, I wouldn’t recommend going when the sign outside says “family night” or whatever. We weren’t close enough to the kitchen to hear exactly what they were saying, but there was pretty much constantly yelling back and forth and we could hear bits and pieces from where were sitting and there was a bit of vulgarity.

Love this place, I’ve been going since I was a kid. Huge portions, delicious food, and kind staff. I went a couple days ago (got me some wings) and the waitress was a little late but she apologized for it. The prices are pretty good for such a large amount of food and most time we go there’s a chocolate lab sitting outside waiting for pets. Every so often you’ll here yelling from the kitchen, but no one’s perfect so I’m okay with it.

My husband and I stay at Nob Hill Holel and Perma Stone is next door. I read reviews about portions and price, all positive. So we decided to go. We got there at 4:30 p.m. and we were seated emediatly and drinks were served. I encouraged my husband to order The Tig 1 1/2 pound all beef burger. I ordered the regular hamburger 3/4 pound. And large fries. Be ready! You will gasp. Everything was fantastic, even our bill was really considerable for what we ordered. My only complaint unfortunately, and it’s a big one, is that the whole time we were there, we heard awful yelling coming from the owner in the kitchen. It was horrific. I don’t know how anyone can work under those conditions. The waitress at one point got our attention just to apologize for the screaming coming from the kitchen, she said she was married to that. The food was great, servers did their best working under those conditions. They deserved every red tip they earned and thank you to the chef. Great food.
I think all of us were waiting for Gordon Ramsey or someone like him to burst in with cameras and tear into that monster owner yelling like that. Good food, bad atmosphere.

Love the Perma Stone. Massive amount of food with good prices. Portion sizes are for very big appetites. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. You will be back. Family favorite for sure.

Came here with a party of 7 people on a Saturday for an early dinner. Service was SO friendly even though we didn’t make a reservation and the food was really tasty! I especially enjoyed the cheese filled bread sticks. Wings were excellent. Portions are HUGE and prices are quite reasonable.

An excellent bacon cheeseburger! The burgers are very large, and the beef seems to be top notch. The seasoned fries were very lightly seasoned, and very good.
