⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 Stars: The Absolute Best Pizza and Service on Route 66!
If you are driving through Moriarty, or if you live in the East Mountains, stopping at Buttercrust Pizza isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience that sets the bar for what great pizza and genuinely warm service should be. Forget the national chains; this family-owned spot is in a league of its own.
The name says it all, but you have to taste it to believe it: the Buttercrust itself is a triumph. It’s thick, fluffy, and focaccia-like with perfectly crispy, buttery edges, making their signature square pies an absolute must-try. Whether you grab the loaded Deluxe or try a New Mexico twist like the Chili Cheese Stuffed Crust, the quality shines through every time. They even offer an outstanding Gluten-Free Crust that customers rave about—no more cardboard pizza!
Beyond the incredible food (don’t skip the wings or the sweet cannoli!), the staff and owners are the heart of this business. Every interaction, from the person taking your order to the delivery driver, is friendly, professional, and attentive. They truly go above and beyond to make sure you are happy.
Buttercrust Pizza is a local treasure and, as many travelers have said, easily a top-five pizza experience in the entire country. Support this fantastic local business—you will not be disappointed!
Recommendation: Try the signature Buttercrust (square) with your favorite toppings, and save room for the cannoli!

Drove from Albuquerque to support local and have to say it was worth the drive. Ordered the large deluxe and it was delicious. The crust wasn’t too thick and the sauce was tasty. Ate it in the car because we had to drive back but most definitely will be going back.

Finally found my new favorite pizza spot. the quality was seriously top-notch. The crust was cooked perfectly—nice and crispy on the outside, but still had that great chewy texture. The sauce and cheese were spot-on, and they don’t skimp on the toppings!
The service was also super quick, even during a busy time, and the staff was friendly when I picked it up. Everything tasted fresh and fantastic. Definitely worth the price. Five stars, I’m hooked and will absolutely be ordering from here again soon.

This is a great pizza place. Was talking to the owner and she said she is probably closing for good. She is losing her last employee, and they have very little business, which is a shame, because their pizza is really good. She said the salads would feed 2 people, but they easily fed 3. As long as they are open, we will be back.

I’m very disappointed with my experience. The store says it closes at 8 PM, but when I arrived at 7:08 PM, I was told there was no pizza left and was simply turned away. I drove a long distance specifically to come here.
For a large pizzeria, running out of pizza almost an hour before closing is unacceptable. What made it worse was the rude attitude of the staff — no apology, no explanation, no effort to offer any solution.
If you are going to close early or stop serving pizza before 8 PM, you should clearly state that. This was a waste of time and gas. Very unprofessional service.

I ordered a pizza, wings, and a salad tonight my salad was completely brown It looked horrid. I contacted the company about it. I understand that I ordered my pizza Wrong I wasn’t worried about that. I was worried about how I ordered a salad. It came brown and when I contacted the company, the only thing that they had to say from themselves is that the owner wasn’t there tonight! Regardless, if the owner is there or not, that should not affect the quality of food that is being shipped out to a paying customer for delivery I will also add I did get into it with the owner Sarah Wright and she ended up blocking me after I stated that I was going to make it aware to other people how disgusting the salad was! It takes what maybe 10 seconds to open up the lid and look at it? Never mind I did pull some of the lettuce out to get a better picture of it but over half of my salad was brown. And her only resolution was to make one of her drivers come and give me the money back? In all honesty, how hard would it have been to say hey we’ll get you a fresh salad. We’re willing to have someone come and give you the money back, We’ll just have them bring you a fresh salad. But then again, I will mention that if they would’ve actually had fresh lettuce in the building, that would’ve been an option, but clearly they didn’t have any fresh lettuce and they have no problem sending out food that should not be delivered to paying customers.

My pizza was really good, not just the same as everyone else’s. Sarah is very friendly and efficient. There’s a great selection of toppings for the pizza, and the wings are big enough to be a meal by themselves.

Fast and friendly service around 7pm on a Monday night. The pizza was decent – the crust and toppings were good, though the sauce leaves a bit to be desired.
Also, it seemed a bit unwelcoming to have a sign on the front door that in big bold all-caps letters says something to affect of “WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE TO ANYONE!”
All in all though, I would consider visiting again if I have a hankering for pizza in the area, especially since the next best thing is probably Domino’s about 15 minutes down the road, which probably isn’t worth the extra drive.

I’ve been driving by for a while, stopped in to check it out, and was very pleasantly surprised. The strip mall seems closed, but Butter Crust Pizza, was very much alive and kicking! I met with Sarah, one of the owners, who was very nice and took the time to explain things and show me the menu. Family owned and operated, very clean, kitchen and bathrooms, which is very important to my family and myself. It is Covid so everyone was masked and it was carryout or delivery only. I live 3 miles down a dirt road, but they knew where I was and actually deliver there! OVERALL very happy with what I’ve seen, they also have salads, wings, pitchers of beer for 8 bucks once the ban is lifted. I CANT WAIT TO GO AND EAT IN THEIR PLACE! I wish there was a combo plate so I could try all their pizzas at once, and the beers too! 5 stars so far!

Phone was answered by very professional and kind lady ( sorry I didn’t memorize her name). She knew the menu extremely well, was not rude when I needed to be corrected on the size of a specialty pizza because I did not read on the size it comes in.
Husband picked up three pizzas, a full garden salad with added ham, and the cinnamon nuggets.
Atmosphere was very laid back inside and the same courtesy and professionalism was still shown in person as it was on the phone.
‘The Dexter’ , ‘ The Pinto’ , and cheese pizza all were delicious. Very simple pizzas with delicious flavor and of course the ‘butter crust’ just adds to the flavor.
Salad was very fresh and I like how the condiments come separate in the bag.
The dessert of course , just can’t go wrong with just the right amount of cinnamon and frosting ( see photo).
Highly recommend this local business due to their professionalism , kind, honest friendly staff, and great options of food to choose from with very fair pricing.
