We stopped into SOFRITA during the Fountain Hills Art Festival for margaritas and some chips and guac. It had just started raining, so we welcomed the chance to get out of the weather and into what felt like a warm, inviting space. The restaurant itself is well-designed and comfortable, and it’s in a good location for foot traffic during the festival.
Unfortunately, the food and drinks didn’t really hold up. The margaritas were overly sweet – even the skinny versions, which two people in our group ordered. You expect a little sugar in the mix, but these were syrupy in a way that threw off the balance. The spicy margaritas were even more confusing. Instead of infused heat or rimmed spice, they seemed to be mixed with a spicy salsa base. The result? A glass full of floating bits that didn’t feel intentional or well-executed.
The chips and guacamole were okay. Not bad, but not something I’d go back for. The guac had a slightly odd flavor and consistency, though it was still passable with the chips.
The service was fine, and the atmosphere is definitely a plus. But if you’re going for food and drinks, there are better options nearby.

My sandwich came on wonderfully crusty ww bread and the strawberry dessert was divine! They could use some help on coming up with a great coffee bar & this would be the sought after lunch spot— GREAT outdoor seating!

Great little restaurant in Fountain Hills. Salmon tacos were great, as were the chicken tacos (not very spicy). Gluten free options are plentiful. Sit outside for a nice evening meal. Will definitely go back to try some more dishes.

What a wonderful little spot in Fountain Hills. The Bruschetta Board was amazing! The Shrimp Tacos were really tasty as well. We also tried the guacamole and that was to die for. Will definitely be back! Lovely patio with a view of the Fountain. ⛲️

Great little spot for lunch centrally located in fountain hills. Chips and guacamole are amazing, the salsa had a wonderful flavor that wasn’t overpowering. I had a red sangria that was delicious and only got better as the ice melted. Cobb salad was okay, creole salmon tacos were also okay. The service was great, atmosphere, lighting and noise level were all excellent. Bathrooms were clean, I would come here again, have a snack and a drink any day!

First time here. We came with a group. Nice greeting and attentive servers. Had heard that the Guacamole was excellent. It was only good. Ordered the Shrimp Street tacos, they were fair (single shrimp, simple slaw).
With so many other excellent restaurants, I wouldn’t see coming back here.

This is a hidden gem foodie restaurant. Super fresh, homemade, lots of flavor. A restaurant with soul and personality, love the vibe of the inside. It’s a beautiful little place. Not generic and would make a special trip to go back and visit. We had the pork tacos (amazing), chicken tacos very good if you like a bit simpler, get a sample of their homemade salsas with fresh homemade tortilla chips. Housemade cucumber lemonade super refreshing.

This is a wonderful restaurant in Fountain Hills and definitely worth checking out. If you want the sun, there’s plenty of outdoor seating. Inside, it’s dark with tons of religious iconography–dark, cool, music not loud.
I’d skip the chicken tacos, but the juevos rancheros and chiliquis were outstanding. The homemade lemonade is also worth a try. It all tasted fresh and authentic.

The interior of the restaurant is not cleaned well and is in a state of disrepair. The front entrance door is broken. The tables are sticky. The front window glass is cloudy. The interior decor hasn’t been updated since the restaurant opened. The food took a long time to arrive and was warm, not hot. We won’t be going back. It’s a shame that the patrons in FH have to go to Scottsdale to find a decent restaurant.
