My family of three was there for dinner. We couldn’t get a reservation and just walked in at 5 and immediately got seats. I have read that portion size is pretty small so we got a few things to try. We have ordered a ramen and the broth has a good onion and mushroom taste. The pork belly needs to be thicker or they need to give more pieces. The butterfish dish was delicious. The yakatori /grilled meat was not the best as we had way better ones in Japan. Other than that, the restaurant was decent and service was excellent.

A cool spot serving small plates of authentic and inventive flavors using local ingredients. The sushi is incredibly buttery melts in your mouth, thought the cuts and rice could be more consistent in portion and wasabi under the fish. The cod miso butter marinade made the fish so delicate and has good depth of flavor. The light mochiko chicken is a nice twist on the heavy karage chicken. They offer a good range of Japanese beers, shochu and sake.

Kutiyub!!! And that’s a good thing. For starters, making a reservation online was super easy. We used open tables. Upon arrival, you check in and wait for your time. Our reservations was at 7pm on a Tuesday night. Place is packed and the wait wasn’t long at all. If you have to wait, I’ll promise you, it’s worth the wait. Once your table is ready a lovely waitress will come get you. Ours was Ruby. Very attentive, polite and very good customer service. We mentioned to her about being first timers and not familiar with menu or drinks. That was no problem as she knew what to recommend. Guys treat yourselves to a bottle sake, it goes hand in hand with everything we ordered. The sushi is the freshest everything inside it. The fish, Hoi the fish was broke the mouth top notch. Popcorn shrimp served in a rice paper like thing with Kimchee mashed potatoes freakn left me speechless. Steak was cooked to perfection, you ask for it cooked medium, and guess what??? The buggah was cooked medium. Unbelievable. If you want someplace worth every penny, this is the place. Mahalo from Da local boy food truck for the best recommendation.

Cucumber appetizer followed by salmon, hamachi, and maguro. Then beautiful butterfish pictured. Excellent execution and quality. Atmosphere is friendly and upscale Spartan. Nice vibe, just no water expressions or temple relics — nor necessary. Food matters: price very fair.

Outstanding Japanese fare right in Koloa town. Save yourself the drive to Grandma’s and eat here instead. The food, service, and vibe is awesome. We had the sashimi plate, tempura roll, yakitori entree, edamame, and tsukemono. It was fabulous. Would 100% recommend this place to locals and out of towners alike. Just great food. 10/10

This review is from a Japanese Hawaiian local: look, the food is just meh. I came here starving and was very disappointed. Misoyaki butterfish tasted just fine, the yakitori sticks were just alright, and the tsukemono platter was imo, bad. It tasted.. very american? Salty? The cucumbers were very vinegary and wasnt balanced right with the sweet and salt- the eggplant and bokchoy was salty, sprouts were salty as well, the daikon was fine (not sure if they make their own or buy it in store) but it 10000% needed rice- which brings me to one of my huge hitters. The entree’s dont come with rice, alright fine. But the ‘side of rice’ was absolutely measly to the point where I chuckled when it came out. Seriously. I couldn’t finish half an entree with the amount of rice given, and I really didnt want to keep buying more ‘sides of rice’ (which is 5$ btw). I ended up boxing the rest of my meal to take home, I left disappointed. The service was friendly and sweet of course, but the food just wasnt it.

The food was outstanding from start to finish. Every dish we tried was packed with flavor and perfectly prepared. The mochiko chicken was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and incredibly tasty. The tempura shrimp were light, delicate, and full of flavor, with impressively large shrimp. The gyoza had a perfectly crispy bottom while remaining tender throughout. The popcorn shrimp truly lived up to its name, bursting with flavor in every bite. The miso butterfish was the star — unbelievably tender, subtly sweet, and so soft it literally melted in your mouth. The only dish that didn’t quite stand out was their most popular roll, the SWAT roll, which was just okay compared to everything else.

We came to enjoy a meal and had a feast. Ordered sushi as a nice appetizer for the table.
For mains we had a number of different dishes, but the Mochiko Chicken Karaage and ramen were our favorites.
Service with Jasmine was tops!

Solid local spot if you’re looking for something a bit more lowkey with a range of options.
We got one of the rolls (I believe SWOT), the coconut shrimp, tuna, chicken tenders (yes I’m an adult child) and the grilled trio.
Everything was solid – no complaints really. The shrimp had a bit too much breading and the wine was expensive for what it was, but really nice service and solid food, especially in a place where the resort offered restaurants are crap.

Hands down the best ramen I’ve ever had — nothing compares! Their ramen is absolutely phenomenal. The kimama ramen is my go-to, and the jammy egg in it is honestly the best egg I’ve ever tasted — perfectly cooked, so flavorful, and an absolute dream with the broth.
The service is incredibly fast, and the staff is always so kind and welcoming. They treat you like royalty the moment you walk in. Our waitress even remembered me from previous visits, which made me feel so seen and right at home — such a rare and special touch.
If you love ramen, this place is a must. Consistently amazing food, wonderful people, and an experience that keeps you coming back.
