The ambiance of the restaurant is spot on! The music playing is relaxing and pleasant. The waiters are all so nice and attentive.
The menu offers many classic Italian dishes. My husband ordered the red snapper and I got the cannelloni. Dinner plates come with a side salad and the bread “rolls” – which are good.
My husband really enjoyed it! The steamed veggies that came with his dish included brocollini, carrots and mushrooms which were cooked perfectly. We both enjoyed the balance of flavors in our dishes.
The entree serving size is large. The cost for each dish is very reasonable!
There is a large parking lot. There is handicapped parking and the restaurant is very handicapped accessible.
We wish the best to Nick and definitely will be back!
I’ll start with the atmosphere. The dining area was clean and spacious, but a little dark. Tables were well spaced and reminded me of a banquet hall. With the concrete floor and high ceilings, the accoustics weren’t the best. The music being played was nice, but did seem to reverberate a little. The restroom could use a little more attention. It wasn’t dirty, but it wasn’t clean. The bar looked really nice.
Now onto the service. This was what you would consider the norm today. A little acknowledgement when you come in goes a long way. There wasn’t a very long wait time before being seated. The wait staff all appeared to be very composed and well together. Our server was a tall man (didn’t catch his name) that was very pleasant. He checked on us at the beginning and end of our meal, but didn’t offer any refills of our drinks. He did apologize for being understaffed, but that again points back to being the norm.
Let’s talk about the food now. We ordered cheese sticks for an appetizer, the Tour of Italy, Fettuccine Tutti de mare, and a tiramisu with a Diet Coke and a glass of water to drink. The meals came with a side salad with your choice of dressing on the side and garlic knots. Those garlic knots are fantastic! Nice and crusty on the outside and soft and yeasty inside. I love garlic and these had an excellent garlic butter flavor. The side salad was a typical side salad with leafy greens (think a spring mix) red onions, cucumbers, and tomatoes. A little cheese and some olives would take this up a couple notches in my opinion. I got ranch dressing and it was fine. The wife got the Greek dressing and said it was similar to a creamy Italian dressing. She liked it. The appetizer of cheese sticks seemed like freezer bag cheese sticks. They were fairly bland in comparison to the garlic knots.
Moving to our entrees … I’ll start by saying that all the sauces are pretty sweet. We tried the pink sauce, marinara, and alfredo sauces. Starting with the Tour of Italy, it came with chicken parmesan, fettuccine Alfredo, and lasagna. I’m not certain if this particular incarnation of chicken parm was to be served over pasta or not, but this wasn’t. The chicken was breaded nicely and quite tender. I was able to cut it with just a fork. The red sauce was sweeter than I prefer but worked well with the cutlet and cheese I thought. It was a little odd that the bottom of the chicken was warm and the top was cool. Just an observation. The Alfredo was thick and creamy and seemed a little sweet. I think it could have used some black pepper. The fettuccine noodles were overcooked and fairly soft compared to being aldente. The lasagna had nice thick layers of ground beef and cheese. Again, the sauce was sweet, more so than the chicken parm. It was good.
My favorite Italian dish is frutti de mare or tutti de mare so I had order it. My fettuccine noodles were also overcooked and fairly soft. The pink sauce was sweet but had a very good seafood flavor. All the seafood was cooked excellent. The salmon was moist, firm, and flaky. The clams and mussels were both firm and easy to chew. The scallops were great, but could use a little sear. The calamari wasn’t rubbery at all and tasted great. The tails on the shrimp came off easily and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. A few pepper flakes could possibly balance out the sweetness.
The tiramisu was about a 3 x 3 chunk and it was superb. Nice espresso and cocoa flavors mixed with the creamy marscapone. Delicious!
A couple things that could improve could be offering grated cheese for the entrees as well as pepper flakes. A little more attention to drink refills even though you’re “understaffed” would also make a difference.
My final thoughts are this, Amore Italian Restaurant is trying to be a high end Italian restaurant but needs a little work on getting there.
Try it for yourself!
Now the food, I ordered the tour of Italy as one does at a new Italian restaurant and let me say it did not disappoint, food was hot and sweet! Clearly made with authentic Italian sauce and care. The movie “Noona” comes to mind with every bite! As if there is a sweet Italian grandmother back there cooking for me and my family. Truly a good experience and I will definitely be back.
