I had burrito, a real burrito, it’s was so stuffed that I had to attack it with a fork mind you that’s half of what’s left in that picture, easy two meals or one big enough to satisfy the biggest appetites, it was my bad for not taking a shot of it before I attacked but the taste matched the smell at this stop, located in the grand central market, decided to give life a change and this place didn’t disappoint!!!!!

This was the start of my taco adventure and it did not disappoint. Had the chiCharon taco, with a spicy salsa. For $6 you get 2 tacos worth of food so i thinks good value. The taste was quite good too, i really enjoyed it.

Roast To Go is the longest operating food vendor inside the grand central market in downtown Los Angeles. You guys have to come check it out for yourselves if you are nearby or visiting from out of town and see why they have been there for so long. They put a lot of work into their delicious food and have carnitas, birria, chicken, cow tongue, tripe and can make you a combination plate with tacos and rice and beans. The owner is such a sweet person and makes sure you are well fed.

Ordered two tacos for $13. Birria and beef cheek. The service was quick but the tacos were flavorless. The beef cheek is supposed to be a little fatty, but this was pure fat and I couldn’t eat it.

Magic Tacos = large taco that you can make into 2 tacos because they give you an extra tortilla. I had the carnitas this time but the chicken or asada are better. If you want carnitas, pay more and go a few shops down to Villa Moreliana’s that specializes in pork. If you want a good deal this works ok. Note the tacos are now $6 each…. Ouch!

Maybe they’ve changed or maybe the tacos are not quite as good as I remember, but I’m less a fan of this place now after my most recent visit. Their tacos are very popular, and they really are MASSIVE, but the fact that the meat-toppings ratio was so skewed towards not particularly moist meat meant the taco wasn’t all that flavorful and sort of dry.
Their value also used to be a big draw but now each taco is 5 bucks. Again, each taco is massive, to their credit. Service is also pretty quick.
But ultimately next time I’ll try something else or try a different taco counter.

I’ve been patronizing ROAST TO GO for some35 years & counting. You wanna know if I like it⁉️
Besides a Chinese fast food Stand not more than 100 feet away, ROAST TO GO is the ONLY food stand left of all the original Mexican fast food Stands w/i Grand Central Market.
Through the years, I’ve photographed many a ‘ROAST TO GO’ Servers. They’ve always been helpful & friendly. Today (05/31/2022), there were two Servers tending orders. One (Agusto, c foto) has been working their not too long. Agusto took my order and did a Gr8 job. His Co-Worker, Lulu (c fotos) was there also. Lulu is the only ORIGINAL remaining “ROAST TO GO” Server. I’ve known her since she began working there as a teenager.
Through the years, all the people that have worked there skillfully fix your order right before your very ay ’s‼️
“OK, you think, “So what about the food” you ask. So I’ll tell’ya: FINGER LICKEN’GOOD

Surprisingly, the food turned out to be really good! The staff was super friendly, and the portions were huge. There was no line when we arrived, so we were a bit skeptical about the quality — but we decided to give it a try anyway, and we’re so glad we did!

Went around 8 pm to get some food from the market. This was one of the stores open and the tacos looked promising. However the tacos were either flavorless and extremely salty. The beef was edible at best and don’t even bother getting the marinated pork or chicken. They also just use prepackaged corn tortillas which is fine but also tastes horrible.
