Understated local Italian restaurant serving homemade pastas in subdued surroundings.

Food quality has dropped a lot.
Stuffed zucchini blossoms filled with heavy mozzarella and covered in heavy donut batter. Should be filled with light ricotta and dipped in light/thin batter.
Ravioli was cooked with BOTH browned butter and sage AND tomato sauce. Should be only one or the other.
Used to be much better.

Found this authentic Italian restaurant in downtown Burlingame. Love this area but the street parking is difficult. We got lucky and a free space was there for us in front of the restaurant. This is a very narrow restaurant with 2nd floor dinning probably for private parties. There are two outside tables as well. There is also bar seating.
You can tell the customers here were long time customers but all older. Seems this is also a favorite of business people but I would think it would be difficult to talk business as it can be loud inside. We didn’t have reservations for a Thursday evening and were still able to get seated. It was pretty full.
Loved the free bread with garlicky red sauce. There were four of us so we were able to try each other’s food.
House Pinot Noir – 5
Cesare with side of anchovies- 4 (many leaves were old)
Calamari Fritti – 5 (big chunks and even had deep fried jalapeños and lemons in it! )
Spaghetti Vongole -3 (buttery and very garlicky which is good but needs cheese or something and be wary of the broken clam shells)
Spaghetti Carbonara – 4 (pretty good flavor)
Pollo Parmiggiana – 3 ( big piece of chicken was moist but this was not my fave)
Salmone Alla Griglia – 4 (salmon was cooked perfectly)
Everything was ok. Service is very friendly but too slow service for me or I was hungry. LOL. This place is more for someone not hungry but for a good sit down that you want to talk and take your time; like on a date, business date or friends catch ups.
We didn’t get to try their Lava cake and Tiramisu. Would have loved to taste it but felt full waiting for service. Too bad.Maybe, next time.

Went here for Valentine’s Day dinner and the place was hopping. I made a reservation but it didn’t much matter. They were seating people quickly and efficiently. This was probably our 4th time at this restaurant over the past 4 years. We definitely reserve it for special occasions and we’re never disappointed. I had the short ribs with polenta and I brought some home and added a fried egg to it for breakfast and it was as so good. My husband had the salmon again and loved it. I think I’ll try the chicken parmigiana next time. We had the lemoncello torte for dessert. It was a $245 bill (that includes 4 alcoholic beverages) but like I said we reserve this place for special occasions.

Sapore Italiano Ristorante has the best deal in town. They have a lunch buffet for $9.99. With inflation, those deal aren’t really around anymore. The selection wasn’t huge, but it was a decent and delicious enough of a deal. There were 2 different pastas, salad, bread and fish. Enough to fill you up. We also ordered a special arugula, prosciutto and fresh mozzarella pizza. My friend is a regular and ordered off menu. Food is fresh, delicious and service was wonderful. Great family vibes and friendly service.

Wonderful food, owner, and staff! In particular, would highly recommend their catering/bartending services. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, professional, and accommodating for our wedding. They worked with us to get more than we could have wanted for our budget and were communicative throughout the planning process. And the best part was our guests gave us so many compliments about the food long after the event. We’ve since gone back to eat at the restaurant because we loved the dishes so much.

First time diners. Moving to Burlingame in a couple of weeks, so we’ve been checking out the neighborhood. Loved this place. The bar area is filled with friends of the staff. You can feel the love. It’s a small room, but we had a seat close to the bar so we could watch a football game. It got boisterous, but we were part of the noise. The servers love their jobs. Smiles all around. The food was delicious! Great flavors. I will be ordering the branzino again. Loved the flavors! The burrata pizza was a great starter for us. Everyone loved their pasta. The bread was delicious. Good wine choices. We will definitely be back and often! Grazie mille!

I attended the restaurant for a work function. It was a Wednesday evening. The restaurant was very busy. The service was very good, the only complaint were the servers were very rushed, so the dining experience felt rushed as well. For Italian cuisine, it was top 5 I’ve ever had. Prices were very reasonable, the quantity of food was really good too. Definitely a place to visit again.

1st time here, I was so hungry. To start, they bring out bread so soft with what I to say sun-dried tomato oil so yummy. I got The Arancini pretty delicious. I got one of their special pasta in a creamy white sauce with shrimp and tiny scallops with sun-dried tomato. It was pretty good. To finish off with dessert, I got tiramisu delicious and freash creamy. Overall, I like the place pretty good. The place was pretty busy every one’s food look pretty good.

We absolutely love Sapore! The carbonara is my go-to — creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced. My husband can’t get enough of the fried chicken with mozzarella and Chicken Parmesan, and our boys adore the pizza. It’s become our family favorite spot — a true Burlingame neighborhood gem with great food and a welcoming vibe every time.

I’ve been here once before and the food and drinks were delicious. I made a reservation for Valentine’s Day, and they were completely swamped. We had to wait 20 minutes for a table. I think they overbooked, and everyone looked overwhelmed. I tried ordering a drink, but our waitress said it wasn’t on the drink menu, which I was never given. The drink was, in fact, on the menu, but I had to wait 20 minutes. It was hard to get a hold of the waitress because she was waiting on a lot of people. The pasta was undercooked and didn’t taste great. The calamari and meatballs were good, I will give them that. I think this was an off day and will come back again.
