West Side Wok is a small, no-frills sushi and poke spot tucked into a convenient corner of the Upper West Side, just steps from a major subway stop. While it’s not necessarily the kind of place for a long sit-down meal, its location makes it perfect for a quick pickup before heading to one of the many nearby parks.

I tried the spicy poke dish and was genuinely impressed by the freshness of the ingredients. The fish and vegetables tasted like they had been prepped to order, and you can tell the team puts care into the quality of what they serve. That said, the vegetables in the poke were fairly plain—I personally would have enjoyed some pickled or marinated elements to add variety and balance to the bowl. The portion of fish wasn’t overly generous, but they were not shy with the sauces, which added a flavorful kick without overpowering the dish.

Service-wise, they’ve always been reliable and on time with pickup orders. On my visits, they’ve been warm and grateful, especially noticing and appreciating repeat customers—which is rare and always a nice touch in a busy city.

Overall, West Side Wok is a solid neighborhood option when you’re craving fresh poke or sushi on the go. It’s convenient, friendly, and consistent—a dependable spot for a casual meal, especially if you’re planning to enjoy it outdoors.

One of our favorite delivery option! Fits the taste of the entire family. We are never disappointed and love to order there as much as we can. I love the chicken noodles soup and pad tai; they are my favorite!

Good quality Kosher hole-in-the-wall type take out. Really great Thai food, and sushi too.

Note, there is no indoor seating. Order ahead of time and pickup only. (Or have it delivered.) For pickup, I walked in and ordered. My food was ready in less than 10 minutes, really rapid turnaround!

The food here is fine at best, but not good enough to justify the high costs. Their sushi platter was decent, and their scallion pancakes were good. I was disappointed that there was no mention on their website of their cold sesame noodles containing peanut butter sauce. For folks with severe peanut and tree nut allergies, that would be good information to have up front.

West Side Wok did a great job with our catering order on relatively short notice. They were friendly, flexible, and went out of their way to deliver to us on time and to our specifications. We ordered six large platters of sushi and our guests were delighted with the chef’s sushi selections. Thank you West Side Wok!

Great local kosher establishments should be recognized when they provide tasty dishes and great service. The several times we ordered takeout were all great experiences—guy on the phone very helpful, fast delivery, and of course food was delicious. Asked for bright green steamed broccoli and was crisp! The Thai chicken soup is very savory! Will definitely order again.

The subgum wonton soup may be the best kosher soup in NYC. It certainly is the best kosher soup in NYC at a reasonable price. It is full of flavor but not too salty, and the meat and chicken have excellent consistencies. It’s also just always piping hot even after a long ride to your table.
Beyond the soup, the sushi is reliably very good. Everything I’ve had from there has been at least very good, and most things, even if not cheap, are reasonably priced.
For its price point, this place is amazing.
You won’t spend much time interacting with the staff, but they are actually nice, especially for a kosher takeout place.

We had a very disappointing experience with West Side Wok. We placed an order last night at 4:51PM for immediate delivery. At 6:30PM our order hadn’t arrived after at least 5 phone calls that was unanswered I finally got through. I was told they are running behind and it would take an hour at least. I asked them to cancel my order which they said they would and refund my credit card. Subsequently we ordered from Amsterdam Burger which arrived within an hour. At 9:00 PM West Side Wok’s order happened to show up OVER FOUR HOURS LATE from when it was placed!!!!
We called they apologize promised to credit our card. As of now it hasn’t been done.
West Side Wok is disorganized, unprofessional and worst crooks. I have never written a review before but people should be aware who they are. This is not our first unfortunate incident with them.
