One of the best meals we had over 15 days in NZ. The pho was da bomb, perfectly simmered and piping hot broth was so comforting in the cold weather. We even wanted to return the next day to have it again, it was that good. The stir fried rice noodles were good too, full of umami and the portion was ginormous.

I think the last time we went to Saigon was 7 years ago. I don’t know why it’s been so long!

We had such fabulous dishes and including the chicken fried rice, the classic pho, Vietnamese pancake and the chicken and mango salad

Everything was fabulous and glad we tried a few new dishes including the deep fried banana for dessert and Vietnamese coffee.

Everything was spot on and the portion sizes too.

Next time we go it won’t be that long like last time.

What I had was Pho beef … the broth is really awesome, just perfect for me. Beef slices were tender & very tasty without gamey after taste. Comparable to Asian version. Do go try if you’re craving for Asian food while you’re in Queenstown

We went to the Frankton branch after a full day trip to the Milford Sound, and had an amazing dinner at the Saigon Kingdom. Food’s tasty and affordable.

Best Asian food in Queenstown!
You know when you eat something and each bite is like a party in your mouth? When you can’t stop yourself from inhaling the entire bowl. I’ve only had the Lemongrass Chilli Noodles with beef and it’s like the best thing I’ve eaten, I wish I could eat this daily. The girls in the restaurant are also very lovely and efficient. Do yourself a favour and visit this place!

I’ve been to Saigon Kingdom many times, both the Frankton location and the one in Queenstown town, and it has consistently been one of my favourite spots for Vietnamese food in Queenstown.

On this visit at the Frankton branch, my wife and I shared the calamari to start — crispy, well seasoned and a great appetizer. For mains we had a pho bo and a Saigon vermicelli. The pho bo had a very flavorful broth, rich and comforting, with tender beef and fresh herbs. The vermicelli was light, fresh and well balanced.

For drinks we tried the Vietnamese coffee and a Thai tea, both excellent — the coffee was strong and sweet in the classic style, and the Thai tea was refreshing and nicely creamy.

Service was friendly and the food came out quickly. After visiting many times over the years, I can say the quality has been very consistent. Definitely one of the best places in Queenstown if you’re craving Vietnamese food.

Highly recommended.

This popular little restaurant provided great friendly service and sumptuous food at a reasonable price. There was a wait list for tables so I recommend make a reservation or arrive early.

Generous portions, but a major letdown for authentic flavor.

I’m giving this place two stars because the portion sizes are generous and it works as a functional, filling stop if you’re exhausted after a long day outdoors. However, if you are looking for an authentic Vietnamese experience, this isn’t it.

We ordered the Pho Ga and Pho Bo, and both were incredibly underwhelming. The broth was bland—essentially tasting like hot water seasoned with salt and pepper. There was zero balance or depth from traditional aromatics like star anise or citrus. To make matters worse, they don’t provide the standard side plate of bean sprouts and extra lime unless you specifically ask for it.

While the restaurant’s name implies Southern-style cooking, the execution is far from authentic. I didn’t factor the language barrier into my rating, but it was telling that I tried speaking Vietnamese to a few different staff members and no one spoke it. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt since it was a busy service and I may not have caught the right person, but the complete absence of Vietnamese on the menu alone suggests the flavors have been catered down.

If you just need a large, hot meal to fill your stomach, it’s “passable.” But for anyone seeking the complexity of real Vietnamese cuisine, the lack of flavor here is a disappointment.

The chicken pho was tasty and the view out of the shop window was amazing. Service was good too. I saw one of the staff members run into the carpark after a customer to return something they’d left behind at their table.

The foods were amazing. We ordered whole fried fish, king prawns, banh xeo, lemongrass & chilly pork, big bowl of rice to share and 2 deep fried ice creams. There were 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 children however we managed to finished all the foods we ordered as it was really good. Our children don’t normally eat that much however this time they do eat a lot and really enjoyed the foods. Service was great and friendly. Highly recommended.
