I can’t believe my husband and I have been driving to Honolulu to have Thai food for dinner when Malai Thai Kitchen has been in Wahiawa all along! I tried it for the first time tonight as take-out and I’m writing my review right away because I’m floored. The service was very quick; I called to place an order for pickup, and it was ready in 10 minutes. The restaurant is located in a strip mall, which is great because there is ample parking. There was no wait for me to pick up once I arrived, and the cashiers were incredibly nice. I would definitely come back to dine in, as the restaurant itself was very bright and clean.
As for the food—not only were the portions very generous, but the flavor and texture of the curry and the rice was incredible! The curry was very comforting, yet not too thick or heavy. I also like that it was very flavorful, yet not too sweet. The spice level was perfect for me and just spicy enough where it only lingers a little (I have a low to medium spice tolerance). And they really didn’t skimp out on the chicken, as well as the vegetables. I want to say that the eggplant was the star of the show—it was so soft and buttery without being cooked to mush. The sticky rice is also a game changer. In all the previous times I’ve had Thai curry, it’s always served with regular rice, but now that I’ve tried the sticky rice, I don’t know if I can go back.
I almost didn’t want to write this review because this place is such a hidden gem, but they definitely deserve all the praise! I can’t wait to come back and try more of their menu items. Mahalo nui ❤️

A little hole in the wall with only a sign on the door to mark the spot. Very clean, fast, and outstanding food. As a Thai food enthusiast, one of the better spots I’ve been to. I had the papaya salad and chicken larb and enjoyed both a lot. Seemed like the kind of place that cares about doing their food well.

Some of the best Thai food I’ve had. Pad Kee Mao & Pineapple fried rice with seafood. Seasoned perfectly! Clean plate delicious. Very tasty, fast, friendly service. Worth the trip!

My son has a T-shirt he wears on his birthday that says “All I want is fried rice!” So I researched online and found Malai Thai! We all agree that this was the best fried rice we’ve had in years. Five stars easy! It’s basically the only place to go for fried rice, you won’t be sorry. Now we want to try their other dishes! Great local spot.

We went about 645p on a Wednesday and it was pretty sparse, was able to order our food and waited about 10-15 min to get our to-go food. The place was very clean, new and the employees were all smiles. The food itself when we got home we’re healthy portions for 1 person. It wasn’t salty but the flavors hit just right. Not spicy but we don’t like spicy so we were happy about that but I bet they could have increased heat if we wanted to. We got two plates, one veggie pad thai and one tofu pad thai – to-go. Loved it very much and glad this place came to Wahiawa shopping center next to Longs drugs store and O’Reillys auto. Also had a Thai coffee and it was okay, not the best but still flavorful.

I visited this restaurant recently, and I was truly impressed by how amazing the staff were even in tough weather conditions, they provided exceptional service with a smile. The food was absolutely delicious fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You could really tell the team cares about their customers and their craft.
The only downside was that the restaurant doesn’t have a proper restroom on-site. Guests have to use a nearby facility, which unfortunately wasn’t very clean or comfortable. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s something to be aware of.
Overall, the great food and outstanding service definitely make up for the inconvenience. I’d still highly recommend this place and will definitely return!

My husband and I ate there and before paying my husband ordered a mango sticky rice to go. It took a few minutes to get the order of mango sticky rice so we figured they were preparing it. It’s not until later at night that we decided to eat it at home that we found out they gave us only sticky rice while charged us for mango sticky rice. Im pregnant so this ruined my whole night. So disappointed and extremely upset. Cant even believe it!
