John’s Original Pork Chop Sandwich was founded in Butte, Montana in 1924. The original Pork Chop John, John Burklund, sold his pork chop sandwiches from the back of a wagon located on the corner of Mercury and Main Streets. As demand for the unique sandwich increased, John opened a restaurant on Mercury Street in 1932. Consisting of a counter, 10 stools and a walk-up window, the original store became a landmark and drew people from far and wide. Still known today as Pork Chop John’s, that same store remains our flagship retail location and our home office.

I also tried the pork nuggets, which are basically bite-sized versions of the pork chop—battered, fried, juicy, and crispy. They could use a bit more seasoning, but the dipping sauce helps balance that out. The French fries were also great—battered, crispy, and nicely seasoned.
We picked our order up, left a nice tip and went home to enjoy our meal.
My wife’s sandwich tasted like a normal pork chop sandwich should, but mine, on the other hand, tasted so bad that I couldn’t eat it.
I don’t know if I got a spoiled pork chop, or what, but it tasted completely different than the one my wife got.
My sandwich was so bad that I took a bite and I was done. I had my wife taste it just to be sure I wasn’t losing my mind. She took a bite and spit it into the garbage.
Then to make matters worse, my onion rings were cold and tasted like they weren’t cooked long enough, the batter coating wasn’t cooked enough and it tasted like soggy dough.
We spent $29 with the tip included and my entire meal was unedible. My wife did enjoy the food that she ordered.
We have eaten at this establishment on multiple occasions and this is the first time that I have had any complaints.
The food is normally pretty tasty and for that reason I am giving a 3 star out of 5 star rating.
I’m on the fence on whether I will eat there in the future.
Got that and hot sauce which the person who wanted that sandwich is allergic. Know that the people that work here dont care and their quality will show that.
