I am excited to have this new restaurant in our area. I like that the menu options are healthier than a burger and fries. The portions are generous and the price is reasonable. I had the king pao chicken. It wasn’t too spicy. My husband had the teriyaki steak and it was very good and tender. There is indoor and outdoor seating. I will definitely be back!

Nice new addition to the Treasure Valley providing other options other than another chicken restaurant. It was busting out the doors when we arrived. The service was awesome and for a long as the lines were the crew took care of the customers very well. Very friendly staff. Nice part to rush hour the food was coming out hot and fresh. Flavor and choices were not anything special. It was like a mix of express and noodles&co.
Nice ambiance if it were not so packed, there is outside seating available.
Over all for a quick bite to grab for the location it’s a good place to check out. But if you are looking to be wowed, there are more authentic places in the valley.

Update ** We’ve come back to visit twice since opening and the food is just as delicious! However, the protein portions are embarrassingly small. My review would drop to 3 stars if not for the high quality which I feel like bumps it to 4 starts. We got the burrito one of the times for my kids and there were about 2 tablespoons of the shredded pork and the edges of the tortilla were rock hard. I’m also disappointed about the upcharge for yakisoba noodle base because it bumps up the bowls into sit-down restaurant pricing. It was about $45 for 3 dishes which is too steep for a fast casual restaurant in my opinion, especially with small protein portions. If price isn’t as big of a concern then I still recommend this place because you can tell how fresh everything is! And I still

I can’t wait to make this a regular stop. It’s the healthy / chipotle version of Panda and I’m here for it!!! I’ve tried both the sesame and green curry sauces and they were great. Love all the fresh veggie options. The guacamole is good quality. Also who knew corn was good on an Asian bowl? Don’t knock it til you try it. The protein portion is hit or miss depending on who’s behind the counter is my only constructive criticism. I also don’t recommend the burrito Zao’s way (with the rice noodles – too wet) instead opt for rice as the base. The workers were all so friendly!

I had the bowl for the first time, and honestly, I’m not a huge fan of the lemongrass chili oil. It was just too much on my plate, and the whole bowl, by the time you sit down to eat, was lukewarm. I went a second time and gave it another chance, and the soup didn’t disappoint.

Busy place, people out the door! Having been to Zao in another state, our expectations were high. Food was just what we expected, hot fresh, and healthy. Not much seating to choose from. Seemed expensive for just two people eating at fast casual.

This is such a nice change up from my typical fast-casual rotation. I loved how fast the service is, it’s similar to a Chipotle ordering process. I got the teriyaki chicken brown rice bowl. The flavor was great, and the veggies had a nice crunch. I loved the crispy onions on top!

My wife and I tried out Zao last week—fantastic new spot in Meridian. Food was fantastic—Zao feels like a blend of the “health restaurant style” found in Cafe Zupas with an Asian grill twist similar to Panda Express. My only complaint was that garbages were overflowing and we did not have a place to throw away our trash—other customers started stacking their trash around the bins due to the lack of cleaning from the restaurant staff.

Placed an online order for pickup. When I got home with my order, 2 out of 3 bowls had no meat and incorrect toppings. Pictured is a kid’s chicken bowl – which was just broccoli and rice. For the high prices Zaos charges, one would hope they’d at least get an accurate order.

I really enjoyed eating here for the first time with my husband! I got a rice bowl with chicken and he got a noodle bowl with chicken and both bowls were absolutely delicious! The food itself looks like it would be pretty bland, but I was totally surprised when I took a bite, there was tons of flavor and everything was very fresh. The teriyaki sauce that they put on top was some of the best I have had. I really enjoyed eating here and love that it was all mainly fresh and healthy food. I will be coming back!

I tried this place out today with my wife and I’m going to give it our honest opinion. The main issues were with the price, options, portion size, and the taste. Her steak wrap was 15$ dollars and my 3 Kung pao tacos were about 14$ both with guacamole. I’d say the ingredients are on par with Chipotle in quality only more asian, but the lack of options and ingredients was dissapointing. The portions were about half the size of Chipotle for that price. The food was fine but a little too sweet for our taste and the meat was cold. I’m not sure if it’s always like that or was I in too late? I paid only half price for both due to a promotion and I thought it was still too much.
