How many times have you driven past this bakery and always thought it was “just a bakery” or had no idea what was in that strip of stores before the train tracks on main st. ???? I know it’s nearly everyday since they built that group of buildings. I am legitimately kicking myself for never stopping by to even check them out. Yet again Middletown has added to it’s list of amazing local spots people need to know about!!! So very quickly I will explain finding it, dropped teen off at movies n i wanted to treat myself to a great coffee (or some variation) n a little pastry to go with. DD is obviously right there but coffee houses are my thing. I don’t treat myself daily to them so when I do go to get coffee outside of my kitchen, I go for the gusto n also support local small businesses. Middletown hasn’t ever had any kind of coffee spot other than big names but I figured just look n see as we have places popping up here left n right nowadays. Soooooo glad I looked!!! Sweet Melissa popped up but its pics on google showed me it wasn’t just a local bakery. Which, hey no worries if it was but it wasn’t what I was looking for atm n I always thought it was jus another small bakery. Boooooyyyy was I totally wrong and thank goodness the pics were there to peak my interest to click on it to look further and have me drive over. So pulling in and having so much parking is such a awesome added perk to this place. So many coffee spots have little to no parking and can really be a major deterrent. I know if I struggle to find quick easy parking I will most likely be hesitant to go back or choose somewhere else for quick convenience. Than you walk in and the staff were smiling and welcomed me and others walking in and offered assistance if we had questions. That not fake warm inviting feel is everything!!! Most ppl love chik fila just because of the customer service quality… it literally makes or breaks a business imo. But lets discuss the vibes and esthetics of this place!!! Just woooow!!!! It is decorated so beautifully but it’s not a clutter chaos decorated. It is that clean bright inviting happy pretty look. Now most local small cafes and coffee shops nail the vibe check but too often it is cramped and just too small for the amount of business they do. There have been so many coffee shops I wanted to order in and really experience the whole vibe and feel but couldn’t because there was absolutely no where to sit down and you could barely move to get your orders when they are done. Not here, not this place!! So it looks small when you initially walk in but it’s actually quite spacious and they made an entire store sized seating area for their guests!! The sitting area has free wifi and the cutesy cottage comfy clean esthetics flow right into the seating area for patrons to relax and enjoy. Let’s continue on about the actual coffee part. As I previously stated, I thought it was a bakery that now has some hot or cold coffee to have with your treats. WRONG!!! I was dead wrong AGAIN!!!! This place was a literal coffee lovers dream coffee house with countless options of coffee espresso lattees thaaaan they even had protein shakes and juices!!! Okay winnnn!! But lets now explain how this isn’t the everyday bakery with the same cakes pies cookies n breads as most others do. They didn’t just have a few unique items that set them apart, NO! THIS PLACE WOOOW’D me yet AGAIN!!! They had idk how many different cake pop flavors and their cake pops are NOT little. They had so many various mousse desert cups and than cups of deserts like tiramisu, and they were great sizes too!! Than they had macaroons of all flavors and cupcakes and specialty muffins. They had huge cake slices, I mean i don’t know what they didn’t have tbh lol . They even had, my favorite canoli!! They even had a canoli latte!! I wish I could give more stars !!! This place is INCREDIBLE!!! I kno this was long but trust me read this and gooooo here!!!

If you’re looking for sweets there’s a good variety here! Cake pops are great! The coffee though is not to my taste. It’s very sweet with weak espresso flavor. Very festive and super cute spot!

Quiet clean place perfect for a cup of coffee with some good books. The staff is friendly a lot of varieties of cake bakery items the price is decent too. The restrooms are very clean well maintained with good decorations all over the café.

As soon as I filled out the form on the Sweet Melissa website, Melissa followed up with me to clarify and send the invoice. Her reply came quickly and she was very lovely to interact with. When I arrived at the bakery the environment was absolutely beautiful and inviting. The customer service was phenomenal and bakery itself was very well done! As for the cake, it was everything and more! Not only was absolutely gorgeous, but it was also an amazing cake! Sweet Melissa is incredible bakery and I highly recommend it!

My daughter ordered Sesame Street character cupcakes and cannolis for her son’s birthday party – and they were spectacular. The detail on the cupcakes were excellent . Not only did they look good, but they were delicious as well . Some of the flavors were chocolate peanut butter, vanilla and lemon cream , and funfetti and vanilla cream. They were a huge hit. The cannolis were excellent as well! I will definitely keep Sweet Melissa’s in mind when I need something special for a celebration.

Where do I start. I ordered 2 cakes from Melissa for my husband’s retirement party, so they were both speciality cakes. I had sent the bakery pictures of what I was going for. I spent almost $700 and was a little worried about spending that much money at a bakery I had never ordered or eaten from. We’ll let me say, Melissa’s exceeded my expectations. OMG……..
Both cakes were fresh, decorated identical to the pictures I had sent. I know it must’ve taking hours to decorate these cakes. What a perfectionist….at least I can speak for my cakes.
Let’s talk about the taste OMG again, they tasted delicious. I ordered strawberry and cream, raspberry lemon cream and strawberry with bananas and cream filling. They were all yummy. The guest raved about how good the cakes tasted and mostly everyone was asking where I haf purchased the cakes. Melissa did a box cake for me. It looked so real that everyone was trying to move it from the cake table. Imagine how many finger prints were on the cake because it looked that real.
Give Melissa Bakery a try, you will not be disappointed. Oh, and tell her the box cake lady referred you to her

I have bought items from this bakery many times over the past several years, trying hard to support a local bakery. I feel like it’s time to give some fair and honest feedback.
1. Atmosphere: if I were rating it on this alone, I would give it 5/5 hands down. Beautifully decorated, pristinely clean, and charming.
2. Service: 3/5 — the employees at Sweet Melissa are consistently friendly and pleasant. The owner, however, would do well to follow her employees’ example a bit more in this regard.
3. Food: 3/5 — I have tried their cookies, cupcakes, cakes, cake pops, muffins, and coffee.
Coffee: tried so hard to like it so I can support local over larger chains but the lattes taste like straight sweetened milk.
Cake pops: this is the best product at this bakery IMO. Their cake pops are the best I’ve had.
Cakes, cupcakes, and cookies: need improvement. Mainly due to dryness for cakes and often somewhat stale cookies (except their ricotta cookies… those are great). Sadly, I now drive all the way to Wegman’s if I need a cake or cookies bc theirs taste much fresher and more flavorful.
Hoping Sweet Melissa makes improvements in these areas bc the feedback on this seems fairly consistent and I know people would love to make this spot their #1 bakery choice.

This is hands down the best bakery in the area! The products are a consistent high quality and great taste. They always have an amazing selection of goodies to choose from. You can trust that they will always have a huge selection of trending dessert options, as well as an impressive amount of unique choices.
You will want them to custom make your cake, so plan ahead!
However, if you don’t have advanced warning of your need for a cake- they always have a cooler full of beautifully decorated cakes. I have even seen cakes that would stand in as a beautiful wedding cake for a small wedding. These grab-and-go cakes tend to range in price from $35 to $75.
Even if it’s just to look at a beautifully decorated location… check this bakery out! It’s the Disney Land of Goodies
They also serve tea and have a sitting area inside and outside of the building.
