The food was very good and reasonably priced. I was a bit disappointed though. We wanted to get a scoop of ice cream for dessert, but they were unable to serve us as it was past they’re closing time. Honestly, we both chocked it up as better anyway. Icecream at 830pm is probably not a great idea anyway, as we’re both trying to get into better shape.
All in all, I will definitely be returning soon, especially since restaurant choices are limited in the area!
The only thing I would improve is the interior atmosphere. It’s not bad, but it could feel a little more cozy.
Employees were attentive, kind and pleasant! We will definitely be going back when is warmer for ice cream. Lol to cold currently.
Thanks Hawkhouse! See you soon!
The food is outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and made with real care. I indulged in some of their delicious local sandwiches and baked treats, paired with perfectly brewed coffee, and then topped it off with their incredible frozen sweets (the ice cream is creamy, rich, and just divine). Everything tastes homemade in the best way possible, highlighting quality ingredients that make you feel good about what you’re eating. It’s clear the kitchen puts heart into every dish.
But what truly sets Hawkhouse apart is the incredible staff and the new owners, Kaitlyn and Glen. I had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with them during my visit, and they are genuinely some of the kindest, most down-to-earth people you’ll ever meet. Their warmth and authenticity shine through immediately—you can tell they’re passionate about this place and the people it serves.
The heart behind Hawkhouse is beautiful: it’s more than just a café and creamery; it’s about creating a welcoming community gathering spot centered on creativity, quality, and real connection. Kaitlyn and Glen have an amazing vision for the future, and they’re deeply committed to getting more involved in the Harford community—building something that brings people together, supports local goodness, and fosters that sense of belonging that small towns cherish. You feel that sense of purpose the moment you walk in.
The service was top-notch—friendly, attentive, and full of smiles from everyone on the team. It’s the kind of spot that makes you want to linger, return often, and tell all your friends about.
If you’re anywhere near Pylesville, do yourself a favor and stop by Hawkhouse Café & Creamery. It’s not just a meal—it’s an experience that warms the heart as much as it delights the taste buds. 5 stars all the way—thank you, Kaitlyn, Glen, and the whole team for creating such a special place!
The main issue we had was there were SEVERAL employees (mostly high school aged girls, 4 or 5 that we saw) behind the counter plus whoever was on the kitchen. The, assumed, owner or manager sat in a back booth on her phone and laptop. There were a total of 4 parties (including ourselves) for the course of our time there. 1 already there, one ordering ahead of us, and 1 sitting as we left. There was no reason to have as many staff as there was, on a slow night with the owner/manager kicked up in the back dining area. (Saturday night prime dinner time we expected it to be busier, but it was not at all). Sure, she could have been doing work related tasks, however the optics of an owner/manager sitting on phone/laptop while business is running and there’s clearly too many people on the clock working, isn’t great. Work in the back or at home. If the justification for some of the things that have pointed out in other reviews, is about costs / cost saving to keep food prices down, the owner/manager should be stepping up instead of having SEVERAL employees on shift when absolutely not necessary. One of the front girls came back to her to ask her a pricing question about an order actively being placed. The front girl came back and forth to her 2 times to resolve whatever this issue was. She asked the girl to send her a picture of the screen or menu (unclear) so she could see what the person was asking about instead of getting up and assisting the employees/customer.
The girls/waitresses were all very sweet and doing their best.
The, what seems to be, decline is reviews for this location isn’t the food, ordering system, or prices. It’s at a higher manager/owner level as far as how it’s being ran. The place is beautiful inside, which is a shame because the costs to do all of that remodel doesn’t seem to be worth the business it’s producing / losing.
I ordered soup and a sandwich. I asked for mayo and grilled onions. I got no mayo and huge slices of tomatoes. After a long wait they brought the soup out with the entree. Why not bring the soup out first? The waitress never came over a single time to check in the table. I was never able to get a drink refill. It was awful. The table next to me didn’t get silverware. In the other side of me, their drinks were forgotten. How does this happen? It wasn’t crowded at all. There were more staff members on their phones than customers. The food was ok, but they’re putting way more time into decorating the place than training their servers. It’s a real shame.
If you just want food I guess you’ll get what you need. It just sucks to see this place lose its heart. I used to eat here multiple times a week but I will not be back anymore.
