Each course was imagined, delicious, and the perfect balance of satiating yet left you wanting more. The monthly change in menu keeps things exciting and you can taste the freshness in this Virginia-meets-French farm to table fare. Owner was so lovely and talked with each table throughout the night, even offering a glass of prosecco as we were celebrating an occasion. Wine and drink menu is varied yet approachable. Service was attentive yet not pushy or rushed. Truly a lovely spot in quiet Gordonsville to enjoy a great meal and conversation.
P.S. don’t skip on the bread and butter — it’s divine!
One of the highlights was being seated beside the fireplace. The soft glow and gentle heat created an intimate, romantic setting that made the entire dinner feel even more special. We wholeheartedly recommend Pres des Prés to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. It’s the kind of place that stays with you long after the evening ends, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit.
The fireplace was going, and gave it an old school feel. Quiet and easy to have a conversation, their bar next door is great to get a pre meal cocktail too if you arrive early.
It’s expensive, wine by the bottle are mostly all premium but they do have by the glass options that are reasonable.
It’s family owned and run, and they all pitch in. I’d love to ask how the daughter feels about serving but, not really my place. However she did a very nice job.
Don’t expect fast service, it’s not that type of place – It’s pretty French for the middle of Virginia.
Visiting, or a special occasion I’d highly recommend it but not for regular meals unless you are very wealthy.
But go ahead, treat yourself if you can, I don’t think you’ll regret it.
Andrew was so enjoyable throughout the service, between his education on the food and wine pairings to his conversation in between.
This was the best meal I have had in quite some time. I don’t have words to do justice to these dishes. Chef Abigail is a culinary genius. I was also completely blown away by the wine pairings for each course; probably the best pairing I have ever experienced. The time and effort that goes into determining the pairings is very evident by how perfect they are.
Everything about Près is a masterclass in attention to detail, and I am already salivating at the anticipation of my next visit.
The menu changes monthly – these photos are our favs from this month! Sweet corn risotto and buckwheat crepe with mushrooms, onions and mornay!
The menu appears to change monthly, so schedule soon to catch the summer flavors. And while you’re at it, walk the colorful streets of historic Gordonsville.
Happy beginnings, happy middleness, happy endings…in many words – thoughtful, attentive, creative, jovial, satisfying, delicious…. yummy! Indulge in a culinary, three course, seasonal journey. The selection of wine pairing or choose your own adventure is approachable and delish!
