I arrived at the restaurant at 6:49 PM. I was told I could seat myself probably because it was just me. When I did, I noticed the board that has Sushi Specials on it, and I confirmed that the items on that board are not listed in the menu. I don’t know if those specials change out every so often, so hopefully someone who works here will see this review and provide intel on when the sushi specials change. I ordered Ika Salad, Hot Mama Roll, and Deep Fried Cheesecake for dessert. The bathroom was a single bathroom, which despite being a little disheveled, was nice and offers paper towels. The Ika salad took 8 minutes and 8 seconds to arrive. It looked to consist of sesame seeds, squid, cucumber, possible carrot, and something purple (maybe red onion). Despite the menu saying it was spicy, it did not taste spicy at all. It was still good though. The Hot Mama Roll took 11 minutes to arrive. It was crispy on the inside, spicy without being too spicy, and overall good. The Deep Fried Cheesecake took 3 minutes and 35 seconds to arrive. It came in a bowl with whipped cream surrounding the cheesecake. The whipped cream was very light. The cheesecake itself was warm and crisp on the outside and cool and creamy on the inside. My only real complaint is that I wish it came with a fork instead of a spoon since the spoon had difficulty digging into the thicker part of the cheesecake (which also would slide up the edge of the bowl). Overall, this was a very pleasant dinner experience.

I came to eat here today. Tuesday 10/28/25. The experience was great. From the front door, the hostess was super nice and accommodating. She helped me get my handi-challenged wife to our table respectfully and graciously. The hostess took our drink order working (effectively and efficiently) in tandem with who was observably the only server on the floor. Both were fantastic. Attentive. The Sushi Girl was perfect. I tipped her two dollars personally even though I’m sure she receives an hourly wage higher than the Server and Hostess. With all that being said, this seems to me to be a great place for a quick and inexpensive Lunch. Check out the Specials bc they truly are…special. Ownership and Management, please review the date and time of my visit. The 3 young women who seemed to be running the place at the time (hostess, server, sushi roller) did so with grace and competence. You should be proud and they should be rewarded.

Hands down the BEST sushi in Cleveland. If they don’t have the exact roll you want on their menu they will make it for you. Their miso soup is some of the best we’ve ever had anywhere. Always a great experience at Kumo!!

After reading many bad reviews on a new Asian buffet in town, we changed our plans and headed to Kumo for lunch when our daughter was visiting this week. It was a wonderful experience and we were extremely pleased with all aspects, from the immediate and cheerful greeting upon entering to the fast and efficient service and delicious food, this was a perfect lunch choice for our family. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. We have never had such tender chicken and steak at a hibachi restaurant. Our daughter had the bento box and kept commenting on how good everything was from the crispy spring roll to the sushi. She lived in Japan for a while, so she loves quality Asian cuisine. I have ADHD…so I had forgotten how I loved the sparkly tables:). An extra “perk” was that we qualified for the senior lunch special, so not only was our food hit and delicious, but it was at a discount!

I ordered shrimp and steak hibachi online for take out. It was ready exactly when they said it would be. My steak was cooked as I asked and the shrimp was very good also. The dinner came with salad, soup, fried rice and vegetables. It was all very good.

I come here a lot and have had great experiences at this place I would call myself a regular. The food here is great and has a great atmosphere and selection however the service isn’t the best. Servers will go and sit in a room on their phones with customers in the restaurant my server has been on her phone in this room in front of me for over 10 minutes while I’ve had my ticket ready to be paid and yes they are supposed to take it to pay I love this place it’s just unfortunate that the staff doesn’t stay attentive and makes some customers feel they are being ignored.
