I am biased with this place because my family stops here most Sunday mornings and we just find it so cozy. The seasonal drinks are fun and the breakfast sandwiches are really good. My only wish is for some less sweet drinks for people who enjoy the taste of coffee. Many of their flavors sound fun to me, but when I get them, I feel like I’m drinking a piece of cake in latte form. I gravitate toward a plain cold brew with seasonal cold foam for a little less sweetness.

I visited Cafe Diem for the first time today and I’m absolutely blown away!
The owner Sarah and her team are incredibly warm, welcoming, and truly passionate about what they do. Every single thing on the menu is made in-house with so much love and care — the quality is on another level. Compared to Starbucks or the big chains, this place is in a different league! Fresher, tastier, and honestly just better in every way.
If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and go — you’ll leave wondering why you ever went anywhere else! ☕✨ Highly, highly recommend!!!

The food was good, but the coffee tasted burnt. I love a really strong, dark coffee, but I couldn’t even drink this. Smelled like something was burning the entire time I was there, so maybe there was just a bad batch of roasting. Hopefully better next time around.

Such a great Ankeny institution. I have been going here for years. Excellent food, friendly service and a great place to work while getting some of the best coffee in Iowa. They roast their own coffee beans on site – you won’t get that at Starbucks.

This place is a great spot to begin your day or take a break in the middle of a busy one. Kindness all over, a good overall vibe that surfaces due to the layout and spacing. I loved my breakfast burrito. Workspace available, but it can get crowded. WiFi. Drive-through. Tabitha is terrific.

I love Cafe diem and was so excited to come but I was disappointed this time. The hash browns were really burnt and the omelette was burnt and not fluffy either like they’re always are.

Nice cozy cafe I enjoyed my latte and my wife was really happy they still had pumpkin spice latte! The breakfast burrito was really good and the hash browns were cooked perfectly. Definitely a good stop for breakfast/brunch!

Didn’t know until recently that Cafe Diem offered such great breakfast! Very large portions and exceptional taste. The cinnamon roll pancakes were fluffy and the whip cream has to be the real deal cause it’s texture and flavor is top notch. Food was ready quickly and served perfectly to order. We’ll definitely be back!

I had the Farmers Omelet with a side of Hash Brown. The Omelet was of a healthy portion with plenty of cheese and veggies, I gave it a (5). The Hash Browns were also tasty but lost a point due to its food temperature which was a bit on the cold side (4). The Cappuccino was good with a slight cocoa finish, but it lacked strength which I found to bee on the lighter side compared to the traditional. (3). The Lemon Poppyseed Muffin was very tasty, moist and had a light lemon homestyle flavor. (5). Cafe Diem also has friendly loungelike areas for customers to study or browse their devices. I would recommend this place over the chain restaurants anytime!
