Upon entering the establishment, I was not greeted by any staff member. The attendant at the counter was occupied with personal phone activity. When I requested a menu, I was directed to its location. After reviewing the menu, I selected the jerk pasta, having previously enjoyed a similar dish in Miami. Despite the $7.99 price point, the dish contained a single shrimp. The shrimp lacked any discernible jerk seasoning and tasted primarily of pepper. The accompanying rice was bland, and the plantains appeared to be poorly prepared. When I inquired about beverage options, the response was limited to “juice” and a gesture toward the cooler. The service quality could be improved. The Jamaican pineapple soda was the most palatable item.

Stopped in here over last weekend was in town from Philly. Was driving by and saw my guy had the smoker going in the front of the restaurant. Ordered a plate of jerk chicken. Got the spicy sauce and the bread on top. It was bangin and the dude was respectful. Going back next time I’m in town!

I recently ordered the curry goat and oxtail from Taste of Islands, and it was hands down one of the best Caribbean meals I’ve ever had. The curry goat was tender and seasoned perfectly, with rich flavors that had just the right kick. The oxtail was fall-off-the-bone delicious, juicy, and packed with a depth of flavor that kept me coming back for more. I paired it all with rice and peas, which were fluffy and flavorful, and the mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy, making it the ultimate comfort food side. The portions were generous, and every bite tasted like it was made with love. If you’re craving authentic Caribbean food, Taste of Islands is the spot to check out!

Sorry excuse for a Jamaican spot..I do miss Pam Roti’s Shop. This place i ordered simple Chicken Curry, Salt Fish Fritter, Conch Fritters and Dumplings.

Chicken Curry did not taste like curry and had a strange fishy after taste and smell. Very diluted and watered down however they did give good portion of Chicken and potato.

Salt Fish Fritter was too dense almost like a biscuit and chewy lots of breading horrible just plain horrible.

Conch Fritters was missing so I cant say if it was good or not. Dumplings was the only thing that was edible in that entire order. I know Caribbean food Jamaican food very well I am happy I did not spend more for oxtail. If you guys don’t want to work there or keep a business open kindly do us all a favor and close down or get some improvements going.

The food doesn’t taste nearly as great as it used to. I had a small brown stew and it tasted like old fried chicken remodeled in brown stew to be sold as such. The rice was bland. My husband had their large oxtail and he wasn’t thrilled. It didn’t give “large” and he said the taste wasn’t all that either. We ordered festival, fish fritters and black cake. We received a nice fritter and one burnt fritter. I asked to have the burnt one exchanged/replaced and the cashier kindly gave us another fluffy fritter. I didn’t open the black cake until we made it home and unfortunately I found a hair at the bottom. The food wasn’t worth what we paid. As we ate, I made a comment of “I wouldn’t give this to my puppy,” to which my hubby responded “cause it would be animal abuse if you did.”

If you are looking for authentic, delicious Caribbean food…specifically Jamaican, this is the spot! It’s really just set up for “to go” although there is minimal seating outside. Dishes come with rice n peas, dumplin and plantain. We got Jerk Chicken and Curried Chicken, both were excellent. They are building a Caribbean grocery store right next door. The staff is kind and the clientele is diverse.

I ordered the large oxtail plate with yellow rice. I had mac n’ cheese as my side dish. Food came to our table fresh and PIPING hot. Too hot to eat at first but I suppose there could be worst problems in life .
The Mac n’ cheese was a bit drier than what I am used to but it was very flavorful. I recommend it. The oxtails should have been the star of the show but they were missing a full flavor profile. However, I will say that I didn’t eat it all in the restaurant and took leftovers home. When I warmed my plate later, the oxtails had seem to absorb it’s “gravy” and tasted superb. Maybe the extreme heat to which they arrived at the table earlier didn’t allow my taste buds a full experience.
I would recommend this restaurant. One of my lunch partners this day ordered the jerk chicken wings and commented that they were EXCELLENT!

Decided to try this Jamaican restaurant. Order 3 Mini plate pepper stake curry, chicken jerk chicken…. The curry chicken and jerk chicken were good. The only criticism I got was. The pepper steak was a little bit overcooked They need to work on that. We did take out because there was no seating inside looks like renovating.
The establishment with new seating, so there is nowhere to sit right now.

Stopped in for lunch as I was heading to treasure island. Nice little Jamaican joint for food and groceries. I ordered the small curry chicken and a beef patty. The dude came out later and said they ran out of curry chicken, so that was a bummer. I went with the curry goat and he gave it to me for the same price, which was great. Friendly guy too. Came with a dough ball and a plantain. In my opinion, the goat was cooked perfectly, but the cook used a little too much curry powder. The sauce was a tad grainy. Other than that the whole platter was awesome.

I also got a drink next door of homemade sorrel, which was both healthy and delicious.

I sat outside on a Sunday and noticed many Jamaicans stopping in to pick up some lunch. So if they coming here, you know it’s good. Ill be coming back again when I’m in the area.
