I came here for the first time today and it was wonderful! Our server was communicative and super kind. She had brown hair in a bun and her service was amazing! I will definitely be coming back!

Recently I was in Henderson Kentucky craving breakfast. I Googled it and Eastgate Family Restaurant was a suggestion. I am glad I trusted Google. I was greeted and served promptly. My waitress was cheerful and seemed happy to be there. I mentioned omelets and she told me they were very good. The meat and cheese omelet did not disappoint! It was great and filling! I recommend Eastgate highly for a good meal at a reasonable price. I will eat here again soon!!

The start of my first official day in Kentucky kicked off at Eastgate Family Restaurant. My friend who’s from here advised that Eastgate Family Restaurant has the best breakfast in the city. Based on what he said I had to go.
As Eastgate Family Restaurant sits in a parking plaza there is ample parking. Upon walking it you are met with a sign to seat yourself. The restaurant is huge but has the feel of a small down home diner. The decor is very simple and dominated by gray tones.
Once seated we were greeted by Lisa who was all smiles and midwest charm. The menu has an abundance of options but the breakfast section was calling my name. LoL!
As I watched the servers bring out some other dishes I had to think long and hard about what I wanted. Being that my tastebuds we’re all over the place I decided to go A-La-Carte, don’t judge me.
Food:
Grits – The grits were plain. There was nothing special about them overall but they satisfied my desire for some grits. The serving size was very generous and after adding 6 packs of butter I was happier. LoL!
Bacon (well done) – The bacon was the bomb. It was thick and well done just how I like it. Even with being well done it still had the robust flavor profile of smoked pork. Truth be told, I would come back for the bacon alone.
Home Fries (well done and add onions) – The home fries were thinly sliced which made the crispyness even better. Though they were thin they still had the softness in the middle. They hit the spot.
Overall, Eastgate Family Restaurant was a good meal with great service at a great price. It’s worth a visit if you’re in the area and looking for home cooked flavor without having to cook it.

The three of us have been traveling for hours. It was getting late in the day. All we wanted was a good home-cooked meal. And to our delight, that’s exactly what we got! When we arrived, we were greeted on the outside of the restaurant by a picture on the window of the Cross of Christ at the Eastgate in Jerusalem. What a statement! On the door leading in, were the American flag and military insignias. As Christians, and I am a member of a 5 generation military family I knew at once we were in the right place. We didn’t realize they were in their last 30 minutes before close. But when we came through the door the owner himself greeted us and showed us to our table as if we were there at the beginning of his day. The food was fine homey-cooking! The atmosphere was sweet. There was no rush for us to leave as there were several tables with folks not ready to head home either. What a wonderful pearl of great price to find on the road. I would highly recommend them and if you are on the road you might want to stop by for a fine meal too.

We’ve been here a few times for breakfast when in town. It’s OK and, as far as the food goes, one of the better dining options for breakfast that isn’t fast food or gas station grab-and-go. If you don’t mind limited seating that’s full of mostly pensioners and the pro-Christian nationalism being expressed by staff and through the decor then its ok. The food is mediocre diner fare. Nothing special, bland and typical of what’s found is many Midwestern family diners. If you’re looking for somewhere to sit down and have a cup of coffee with some simple food and listen to old men ramble on complaining about the weather, crops and their wives then this is the place for you.
