Only 5 minutes off HWY59 and completely worth the stop. Absolute BEST ribs and collard greens I have ever had. Really good Brisket. The baked beans were decent, I like mine sweet but theirs were more savory, just a personal preference. If I didn’t live 8 hours away the staff would know my name and I would have my own chair in the dining area. Add this to your list of places you MUST stop at when you’re in the area.

This place is outstanding. Excellent brisket smoked perfectly. Very good sides and huge portions. You will not leave hungry. That’s for sure. This place is worth the drive. One of the best BBQ placed I’ve been to in all of Alabama. Highest recommendation.

I’m on a road trip and had high hopes for this place, was pretty disappointed. Got two of the two meat platters, so tried the pork, chicken, ribs, and brisket as well as the potato salad, slaw, mac n cheese, collards, and cornbread. The chicken was pretty dry but was good with sauce, the pork wasn’t super flavorful and was also somewhat dry. The brisket was the biggest let down, I had heard it was fantastic but if you didn’t get any fat, it was dry and crumbled when you took a bite. The ribs were a real standout, would be 5 stars if that’s all I ordered.
The collards were great (they put some burnt ends in there) but the rest of the sides were meh. The potato salad was fine, the slaw was almost ground up into bits and didn’t have much flavor, and I think they forgot to put the cheese in the mac. The cornbread was also cold and tasted like was made days ago.
Best part were the portions, gave lots of meat but we paid about 60 bucks. I feel bad not leaving a good review, really wanted to like the place, but the only good things were the ribs and collards and there were some real misses.

Great service. It was HOT in there. Still, the person that took my order, brought my order out to me. Very nice. The southern peach sauce was good. Meat was moist. I would go again

Always excellent barbeque! From ribs to wings to pulled pork the Stop makes and serves award winning meats and sides. They have 4 different sauces – I am personally a fan of the Carolina, but the Southern Peach is a wonderful compliment to their slow cooked pork. 1/2 a slab with sides and a drink $20.

Got take out today and had to pull to the window to order as the menu board is apparently out of service. I ordered the loaded pork baked potato and it took a while to wait at the window. Seemed reasonable as it’s a baked potato. Got to my destination to enjoy my lunch and it’s not even a fluffy baked potato at all, but overcooked home fries (potato cubes) that were covered in pork and cheese. There’s no bacon or chives or butter as advertised. I added my own green onions. This shouldn’t be advertised as a baked potato. I should’ve been told they were out or let me know it was a substitution. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here. There’s much better barbecue nearby that will give you what you ordered.

so sad to say this review! :/
we ordered to support them through the road closures in the area after they posted on social media that it was affecting their business. we called and placed the order on a thursday to pickup food on saturday, so 2 days ahead of time.
the lobby was not very clean, the food wasn’t ready at the time of pickup, and the sides were a huge disappointment. we got the family meal. so we ordered and paid for a meal that’s supposed to include enough cornbread for FOUR people, and they didn’t even include it. when we went back inside to get the cornbread that was left out, he said they were out of it and didn’t even offer a refund. in what world do you not compensate someone for something that you didn’t even give them?? we paid extra for mac n cheese, and it was literally noodles in milky water with no flavor… so so bad. the only good parts of the experience were the meat and sauce.
when they were putting together the order, they were scraping the bottom of the pans and making comments about being low and out of food. we ordered 2 days in advance to give them plenty of time to prep and have it ready.
just such a bummer. we used to love this place.

Had a taste for BBQ today. This place was 5min from the house. Ordered the wings and a pulled pork sandwich….both were delicious. Customer service could be better, but I think they were in the middle of shift change, so I will give her that otherwise it was a great decision.

What a hidden gem in Birmingham! I visited from South Africa and walked past one afternoon on the way to Piggly Wiggly, so glad I popped in for dinner. The BBQ stop is a perfect example of Southern hospitality and serves amazing pulled pork with mac & cheese and corn bread! Exactly what I was looking for in Alabama! Thank you for the amazing experience.
