These tacos are definitely different — in a good way. They’ve got a real island vibe. The tortillas are rich, buttery, and a little salty, kind of like a malawich. They taste homemade.

The ingredients seem fresh, and you can tell they actually cook everything to order. I even ordered the shrimp and it was very good. They have a nice array of fresh toppings and sauces to mix and match. It takes a few extra minutes, but that’s to be expected when food isn’t just sitting around.

The staff is friendly and easygoing. Overall, solid spot if you’re looking for something a little different from your usual taco place.

Ok so to start, it’s not a traditional taco compared to what you’re used to. Once you get over that you can enjoy the beautiful flavours of whoever makes these tacos back there. I tried the curry chicken and chose my 5-6 toppings. Wait ~10-15 mins because it’s clearly not just being heated in a microwave, but made fresh. You also choose a side of sauce, & I love the mango sauce. Cost me around $7. It was nothing but delicious & I’ll keep returning! Maybe I’ll try the jerk chicken next time.

Alright y’all – I’ve lived in this neighborhood for two years and was never sure about this place because I never saw anyone inside (they must do a lot of takeout because the staff is working hard in the kitchen in back and don’t man the counter until someone comes in and rings the bell); but today I went for it and I’m SO GLAD that I did.

The food is easily the BEST in the neighborhood. My friends and I got two savory tacos, two sweet tacos, and some cookies – and all of them were OUTSTANDING.

We did have to wait a bit for our food and the AC in the dining room/waiting area really doesn’t work BUT the food was well worth the wait. This place really is something special.

We’ll probably order ahead going forward (they’re on UberEats) but we will absolutely be back!

I don’t think I’ve ever written a food review online but these tacos need to be known about. Incredible. The homemade tortillas are out of this world. The flavor of the Rasta chicken and the cantina chicken are something you simply don’t find at your ordinary restaurant. Probably the best food I’ve eaten in years idk how I haven’t found or heard about this place sooner. I ordered 4 tacos thinking they were barely going to fill me. I ate 2 and was stuffed but still wanted to eat the other 2 that’s how good and giant they are. If you haven’t tried them. Do it. I don’t think I can have a taco from anywhere else around here again

hands-down the best tacos i’ve ever had. any negative reviews simply don’t reflect the reality of this spot. one review complained about the wait time, but honestly—it’s a small, family-run place, and that’s exactly what makes it special. i’d much rather wait 20 minutes for something made with care than have them rush it just to appease impatience.

i tried the philly cheesesteak taco and the rastaman taco… and i genuinely have no words. they were unreal. every bite was packed with flavor and clearly made with love.

this place deserves way more recognition than it’s getting. 1000000/10. i’ll be telling everyone i know, and i truly wish the owners nothing but success. keep doing what you’re doing—you’ve got something special.

Ordered 5 tacos and two drinks, in person at about 5 PM on a Thursday. Total $60 with tip. No other people were waiting at the restaurant when we ordered, we were quoted 25 minute wait time. Seating area inside is very limited, obviously intended to be a takeout spot. No seating outside.

We received our food about 25-30 min after ordering, all was packaged to go. We had the following:

Tacos:
The Rastaman & The Golden One (both chicken) – delicious flavor
The Philly Penn – filling was burnt, tasted like uncleaned grill top
The Coddie – tasted overwhelmingly of old fish. Inedible, had to literally spit it out.

The tortilla on all the tacos was both a bit too burnt on the outside but doughy on the inside. We tore most of it off.

Drinks:
Homemade Jutsu Tea – well made, not too sweet, but not a lot of green tea favor
Homemade Pineapple Ginger Punch – lots of good ginger and pineapple flavor.

Both drinks had a subtle background flavor of bad unfiltered water.

Sauces: don’t remember which we had, but they were all great.

Service was super friendly despite being a bit slow.

Overall, this place has so much potential. Would love to have the curry and jerk chicken flavors again, just not like that. Unfortunately would not recommend based on this meal.

The food tasted homemade and the environment was very home like. My son doesn’t eat jerk chicken but he tore that taco up. I loved the cucumber salsa and the homemade drinks were also delicious. The tacos definitely fill you up.

Due to the current state of things, I was skeptical when my friend suggested I try out Tortilla Island over on Ontario. But I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised and glad I followed up on her suggestion. The place is cozy, with a hole-in-the-wall ambiance that affords you the feel of being an insider on a local best-kept secret. The staff is friendly and attentive- a rare commodity these days, as I’m sure you all know. I was overwhelmed by the variety of options, and the staff were happy to provide suggestions and explain the menu. Most likely due to the commercial Taco Bell, I assumed the tacos here would be small. So I ordered two.

I couldn’t have been more wrong. The tacos were a good size, and I quickly filled up on one. I had a shrimp taco. The shrimp was perfectly seasoned and succulent. The fixings were fresh. It was like biting into a little piece of heaven itself. I had the jerked chicken taco for lunch the following day. Again, the chicken was perfect; it was not dry at all, and it was mouth-watering. I was devastated when I took the last bite, but I know where to go for more. I travel quite a bit, especially internationally, but the food at this establishment is some of the best I’ve tasted, and I’m picky. Make no mistake, Tortilla Island isn’t a one-trick pony; there is something for every proclivity. If you like spice, they’ve got you. Do you have a sweet tooth? No problem.

I tell you firmly, don’t walk; run to check this place out. You will not be disappointed.
