My family and I eat here just about every Sunday after church. They staff knows us and greets us with a smile always. If there is a Sunday we miss they notice , the next time we come in they say welcome back. Not only is the food great but so is the service and atmosphere . Coming here is the highlight of my week .

Came in for late lunch/ early dinner. Sat at a table immediately. Our server was attentive and prompt. Food was good for the price, everything came out hot and tasted food. Mango margarita was a hit. Chorizo dip was the star of the show. Great for a casual dine!

Finally went out for my birthday dinner. We just moved to Mechanicsville over the weekend, my birthday was Saturday but we were not able to visit the restaurant over the weekend. Today we did and I’m so happy we did. The food was above and beyond our expectations, my husband could not stop dancing with every bite of his Steak a la Mexican because it was exactly the correct spicy to it. My T-bone steak with vegetables was super, the table guacamole is a must have. Mauricio did an outstanding job but barely towards the end of our meal we felt rushed by the other waiters but by Mauricio he was great. We even order steak and chicken fajitas to go and had the cheesecake dessert, the dessert was not my favorite but I’m glad I did not visit for the desert. We will be back because this is so far the best restaurant we have cost since moving to Virginia. Mauricio you did a fantastic job .

Very fast service and a great vibe at Rico’s, but our burritos were very sloppy and messy and drenched in a cream sauce and tomatoes that made it impossible to pick up. Our hands were coated in the white sauce and we would have been better off eating the burritos with knives and forks. The burritos also fell apart after first picking them up. The chicken salad wasn’t too bad. Wouldn’t recommend Rico’s.

First and last time going to this restaurant was a few weeks ago. It started out fine, I let them know I was waiting for a friend I hadn’t seen in a bit. She was shown the table as soon as she arrived. Great. Where it went downhill was the service and my order. We both had waters to drink. The waiter came by at least 4-5 times to specifically refill her glass. Not once did he ask me nor check to see if my glass was empty (it was). Never gave me eye contact. Next was the fact that I ordered carne asade street tacos. I was given ground beef. I know the difference between the two. I chose not to send it back or say anything. I simply finished a great conversation with my long lost friend, paid the bill for both of us, and left. BUT I do not recommend this restaurant.

Tucked away in a strip shopping center opposite Kroger grocery store sits this hidden gem.

The unassuming sign masks the wonderful, homey vibe that awaits inside.

The burrito that I had was delicious, and the chips hot and fresh. My husband raved about the tacos.

We’ll be back!

I really enjoyed my tacos. The service was great. It was not very busy at the time I was in there. The prices where lower than most places these days. This is a good place to stop in for lunch during a Saturday shopping spree.

Rice was good. Burrito was huge, Beans were salty, guacamole was salty and had too much lime, carne asada was overly salted and mole chicken didn’t come with beans, but mole sauce was watered down and tasted more like a bittersweet chocolate sauce as opposed to any other flavors and spices in mole.

I stumbled on this little treasure. Fajita combo was awesome. Great place to eat. Reasonably priced. Great waitstaff. Will eat here again when in the area.

Casual Mexican Restaurant with the usual fare, but they have street style tacos. Simple soft tacos with various beef and pork varieties garnished with onions and cilantro along with a house made red verde that is flavorful and hot. I used to work in the city and we looked for these taco trucks that had these authentic street tacos. I can tell you these are the real deal, and the heat can be surprising. Very good.
