I was treated great by the staff and had a great experience during my time there. They have a variety of tequilas and some that are of great quality that many restaurants don’t offer.
I definitely plan to visit more often.
Service was attentive without being over the top, and the vibe was laid back but welcoming. Solid spot for authentic flavor and an easy dining experience.
The service was so great that the poor food quality was surprising
Tortillas were rubbery.
The brisket had very little taste.
The refried beans only had taste after adding Asiago cheese.
The guacamole was very good though.
The food was good. The salsa was great, my chile relleno was very good and the fajitas were great as well in spite of it being the wrong temp, flavor was there!
Our issue came with the service, or lack of. After being sat, we received drinks and ordered. The server rarely checked on us (eventually we were ordering drinks 2 at a time so we never ran out.) After we received our food…we never were checked on. Not once. Had we been checked on, the server would have been able to: check the temp on our fajitas which was not to order, refilled chips and salsa, brought a new steak knife as ours were more dull than a butter knife, it wasn’t serrated at all. We would have loved to order deserts or even a margarita. But we didn’t see anyone check on us until the bartender (not our original server) brought the check.
Now, this isn’t a moment of Karen-ness where we want something comped. No. This is a moment of awareness for the business as both my husband and I have been in the service industry/customer service management for a combined 20 years.
We mentioned to the bartender who brought us the check if he was the owner. He said it was a family business. We mentioned that we didn’t see a server for the last 40 minutes. His response was that this was the busiest week the restaurant had and they didn’t have staff. We both understand that and are empathetic. But why continue to take parties of 9, 5 or even 3 if it means your already sat tables are going to suffer? I’m not sure if our original server was pulled to a 9-top table that came in after us and we were suppose to be serviced by the bartender who just forgot about us.
But the dismissive response we kept getting from staff was what bothered us.
“We’re understaffed.”
“We have been slow for months and now we don’t have the staff for how busy it is.”
“Well we’ve been in the restaurant business for 40 years.”
Not once was there a “I’m so sorry guys! How can we make this right?”
A woman came to give us a bag for our to-go food, and said “Next time your service will be better.” I get that, I hope it is. But this really was our Valentine’s celebration with my family. And were there issues with our food? Little ones that could have easily been resolved had we been able to tell someone. But we couldn’t. No one even walked by our table for us to grab their attention. We spent the last 25 minutes of our meal without drinks. Couldn’t tell anyone. Would have love a desert. Couldn’t tell anyone.
Will we return? Probably not for dine in. But takeout is an option because we really did enjoy our food.
And no one was rude! I cant stress that enough. Food was good! Can’t stress that enough. And we would love to try this place again but right now we’re just feeling very dismissed. The truth is, we never received an apology or acknowledgment that the ball was dropped but what we got were justifications as to why our experience was bad.
