Unfortunately, our experience at the Black Horse was not a pleasant one. I will say that the environment has potential, as it is quite decent. However, there are several areas that need improvement. First, the strong smell of cleaner was noticeable as soon as we entered, and it lingered throughout our entire meal. Secondly, the quality of the food was lacking; both of us ordered burgers, which were bland and unseasoned. Unlike most places that toast their buns, this restaurant did not.
The chips and salsa were advertised as house made, but the chips didn’t seem to be.
Additionally, the soda tasted very flat—one could easily find better Coke at McDonald’s.
I genuinely believe that if the food quality were to improve, the Black Horse could become a great place. The restaurant has an appealing layout, featuring a nice bar, dining area, and dance floor.

Waited 2 hours for food with 3 tables filled and 1 party at the bar. Only 1 server and 1 cook working on the weekend. Worst service I’ve ever experienced. Others got their food before us even though we were seated and ordered before them. Bathroom was not clean and had no paper towel. Place was freezing cold in early March. Actually ended up leaving before we even got to taste the food. I don’t recommend wasting your time here. It was a miserable experience.

Made the trek to Clio on a dreary, rainy Sunday. Wandered in between lunch & dinner so it wasn’t busy. Chasity came over with our menus and got our drink orders. I settled in for the Fajitas For One and my friend the Taco Salad. The Fajitas came out smoking hot and came with sour cream, Pico, and guacamole. The char on the bottom veggies was spot on and tasty. Chicken was a wee bit tough but very well seasoned. My friend (being the trailblazer he is..) loved his Taco Salad and ate the whole thing. All in all, a dreary day with a little sunshine in Clio…

Thank You Chasity and The Black Horse Tavern for a pleasant and tasteful lunch. It was refreshing to find a local restaurant that made you feel like they were happy that you were there. To have a server that listened, was attentive and genuinely cared is hard to find these days. Chasity was great! And thanks to the cook. Our Double Bacon Cheeseburger Deluxe and Margarita Chicken were excellent. We highly recommend stopping in to have a bite at The Black Horse Tavern in Clio, Michigan.

As soon as I walked in a server came over and asked if I needed anything. I was waiting on people so not yet. My wife and my uncle got there. We played some pool, had some drinks. It was a really good time. The pool table had just been refinished so it was really smooth play and they had an open mic night going on

We stopped in as we were passing through town. Turns out it was a great choice because Ashley, our bartender at the Black Horse was very professional, but funny, personable, quick, and always had a smile on her face. You can tell she cares about people and enjoys working there! She provided us great recommendations on what to order. Her food choices were perfect…service was top-notch and the drinks were flowing. It was a great first experience for us and we will definitely be back-if you’re in the area go see Ashley. She definitely provides five star service. Ashley is on her game and that’s what you want in a bartender…well, at least we do! Well done on finding her, Black Horse!!

I had never been to Black Horse Tavern before, and I have to say, Ashley was beyond incredible and made my experience better than I expected. She was super knowledgeable about the menu and answered any questions I had about the beer and cocktail list. Her attention to detail and professionalism was outstanding, highly recommend coming here and asking for Ashley, you will not regret it.

I enjoy this place as a local tavern to come in for food n drinks. Drinks are great as well as the food. Atmosphere is great for friends and family or even large parties. Service is great but even better if you’re there on the bartender Chasity’s days, she’s excellent at keeping the drinks flowing and serves with your cocky, fun and smiley attitude that’s always good to be around. Check the place out! Live music and karaoke some days makes it even better!
