Unfortunately, that was just the start.
When we got home and opened the bag, it was a complete disaster. The beans were not sealed properly and had spilled all over everything. I didn’t drop the bag, tilt it, or move it around, it stayed in one place the entire ride home, so this was clearly a packaging issue. Because of that, my chicken, fries, and everything else were soaked and ruined. Nothing looked appetizing anymore. Everything was soggy, messy, and honestly depressing to look at after being so excited to eat.
It gets worse. I specifically asked for Campero sauce, and for TWELVE pieces of chicken they gave me only TWO sauces, literally two. I couldn’t believe it. That’s not even enough for one person, let alone a full meal. The fries were not only soggy from the spill but also oily and limp, like they had been sitting there forever. The chicken itself looked dark, overcooked, and burnt, nothing like the crispy, golden chicken I’ve had before.
And that’s what makes this even more disappointing. I’ve eaten at the Lynwood Pollo Campero and had a great experience there. I live in Bellflower, and instead of making the drive to the location I know is good, I decided to try this one thinking it would be just as good. That was clearly a mistake.
To top everything off, I asked for ketchup, and didn’t receive a single packet, not one. At that point it just felt like nobody cared about the order at all.
I’m beyond disappointed, genuinely frustrated. From the rushed attitude at the drive through, to the careless packaging, to the missing items, to the poor food quality, the entire experience was a letdown from start to finish. I honestly regret not checking my order before leaving, but customers shouldn’t have to inspect everything just to make sure basic things are done correctly.
This wasn’t just a small mistake, it completely ruined the meal and the experience.

Today, I visited the new Pollo Campero in Bellflower, which opened on September 25th. This place has a drive-thru and plenty of parking. Once inside the restaurant, it was a little busy, but the ambiance was great. I ordered their four-piece chicken with rice and beans, asking to have half fried and the other half grilled. The total amount for this meal should have been close to $18, but since I am part of their rewards program, I used $4 from their Pollo Campero app, so it cost me $13.
My order took about 10 minutes to make, and I noticed they gave me fries instead of rice with my meal. I notified one of the employees of the problem, and we both laughed because we knew it was a misunderstanding since rice and fries sound alike. They gave me my rice and let me have the fries for free, which I thought was nice of them.
As for the chicken, it was delicious. The batter they use is the same as the one I remember from when I used to eat Pollo Campero in Guatemala. The grilled chicken is something new, but it was also delicious because it had a hint of lime flavor.
Overall, I am happy to know that this place is near my house, and I will definitely be coming back again.
