Black Friday adventures started out with breakfast here at Alice’s Restaurant in Skowhegan, Maine. This place is so popular and full of hungry folks. If you can’t find a parking spot, use the parking lot across the road on North Avenue. Seat yourself and you will be helped quickly. This is a friendly cozy place to have breakfast or lunch. Placemats on each table to promote local businesses and helps with clean up. Got a very traditional breakfast. The cooks were so busy. Looks like the next time, pancakes will be my order. Brooke was an amazing waitress and checked on me frequently. Don’t usually go out for breakfast, glad I did today…thank you!

Managed to just beat the morning rush, and was quite impressed. Delicious food, perfectly sized portions and good coffee. Couldn’t ask for much more. I’d include a food photo, but it was gone before it was a thought.

For Sept. 28- At first glance it seems Alice’s Restaurant in Skowhegan has that biker diner persona going on, but a step inside reveals real charm… nothing fancy, but quaint. And the food is outstanding. The busy servers and kitchen staff move everything right along, pushing out delicious looking plates, one right after another. I went for the Smoked Bacon Mushroom Fritata from the Specials board which was cooked to perfection. My friends had the Monte Cristo and a breakfast sandwich which were said to be excellent. The pricing here is fairly inexpensive too. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Highly recommended.

Staff was very friendly and personable. The food was fabulous as well as an over amount of a serving size. I literally had leftovers for breakfast the next day. It was very delicious.

Breakfast portions are huge for what you pay. Our eggs were cooked to perfection and the sausage links were the biggest I’ve ever seen and the pancakes took up a whole dinner plate. All the employees are super friendly and help each other with coffee refills and cleaning tables.

Update on second visit:
Limited seating. Not acknowledged for some time upon arrival. Place was kind of dirty and food was not as good with more customers! Think we might have been spoiled the first time because it was not a busy time.
First visit:
A great breakfast at a local place!
I had never been to Alices because I had heard mixed reviews but we ventured there today because our normal breakfast place was closed and we’re so glad we did. The prices were awesome & the food was DELICIOUS. Corned beef hash was high quality (and not from a can), the homefries were cooked well, the ham was a thick slice. The pancake seemed pricey until we got it and saw the size. We got great service overall.
Four stars for a couple of small and picky things (because when you go to a place so good you start to look for anything wrong) and basically there’s not much for seating, the orange juice is from concentrate and the butter seemed a little like that cheap plasticy stuff but those were all such minor things in our experience.
Will return for sure!!

Awesome local fare. Would highly recommend this place to anyone in quaint Skowhegan.
Order any of the specials, like I did. Today was a special on various club sandwiches. I asked what the server would recommend. She said the meatloaf club was really good. I couldn’t agree more.
