We passed by this restaurant so many different times and didn’t realize how good the food is here. This is definitely a local hidden gem that you should try if you are in for some Italian food. In fact, there are at least 4-5 local Italian restaurants within the half mile radius. We decided on Gio’s due to how close we are to this restaurant. We placed a takeout order and the order was ready as promised. The food was still hot when we got home because the food was wrapped with a lot of aluminum foil. The spaghetti with red sauce was quite tasty and the meat balls were gigantic in size. The portions were enough for 2 people as they were not cheap. The garlic bread was okay nothing really too special. Overall, we enjoyed the food. The restaurant has a very basic atmosphere but clean. There were quite a few people there even at 9:15 ish.

Got to try the rigatoni with vodka sauce that was a 4/5 meat flavoring was on point, sauce was flavorful had a good base to it. I wanted to love the calimari and grilled octopus however it did not meet our expectaions 2/5 grilled octpus was tough and over cooked to our liking, the beak was still attached as well. The calimari didnt not seem fresh with a potent smell to it 2/5. Cannoli was 5/5. Overall spent over 80+ dollars on this dinner.

Service was great and timely. The venue itself feels exactly like what you would want out of a family style Italian deli. Will be back next time we happen to be in the area.

Went kinda late with my boyfriend, the service was super super good they really go above and beyond I had the skirt steak risotto and it was sooooooooo good the cook was as great and the meat was soo soft. I’m not a expert on risotto but it was delicious and the consistency was great too!
Overall everything was great and will definitely be back!

I must admit Gio’s is the biggest mistake I have ever made !!!!!

I have a condo in the city that is right next to this beautiful cafe & deli for several years, every summer I would jog by it and comment how quaint and lovely the place seemed and make a promise that I will find a free day off of work to stop by and give them a try.

Well that free day was last Friday, I called in an order for pick up and as soon as I made it home and had the first bite is was nothing but pure love , bliss and enjoyment. I am an avid food lover, I only go on vacations and trips simply for the thought of the food experience I’ll get to try at new places.

Gio’s is that place my taste buds have been looking for. I have been here everyday since last Friday ordering a new dish. I am in absolute love with this cafe and deli and will be using them for special lunch dates , favorite go to spot and a gift shop as well.

All of my family loves to cook and it’s amazing that Gio’s sells some of their specialty products in the restaurant so you can take a piece of them home with you even after you leave and their giardiniera is a perfect addition to a gift basket not to mention their fresh loaves of bread they sell daily. I cannot say enough good things about Gio’s you just have to come on in and see it for yourself. This is truly my favorite hidden gem in the city as they give you the maximum bang for each and every dollar spent. The portion size makes you feel happy you came and delighted to go right back.

Their ingredients are so fresh and rich once you go you’ll be coming back in repeat just like me !!! They are so professional and happy to help they can even take special requests on your order to make sure you love every bite. Ex: I don’t like onions but they had a dish that comes with them, I asked if they could not use onions but use mushrooms ‍ instead and they made the change effortlessly and deliciously. The attention to detail here is just impeccable.

Thank you Gio’s and your amazing team staff, you help add that special charm and character that makes Chicago the most beautiful and intricate cities in the world keep up the good work. As I will be there shortly to pick up my order of the day !!!!

Gios is FANTASTIC. Delightful atmosphere. Top of the line food. Authentic Italian dishes and desserts. The chicken limone was the best dish I ever ate. Stephanie our server was delightful. Very knowledgeable about the menu and super nice n pretty. Try this place, you will not b disappointed. Also, FYI, bring your favorite wine or beer and save big bucks. I give it a 12.

This is a neighborhood joint with very laid back atmosphere.
The food is plentiful, but really mediocre- canned mushrooms and artichokes, too much buttery sauces and a bit overcooked pasta.
Appetizer portions are ridiculously small.
The environment is very basic and needs lots of tlc.
Virtually not accessible place.
Plenty of parking.

This small 50-seat Italian restaurant/deli reflects the character of the Bridgeport neighborhood it is in on the south side of chicago. It is fun, the food is good and you can bring your own alcoholic beverages. The portions are huge and shareable. I ordered from the Thursday “specials” menu & had the delicious meat lasagna. Also, try the rigatoni with vodka sauce. I did not care for the fettuccine sauce, which was somewhat bland.
