Nice little spot in Indian Harbour just across from the beach. I went with the Brekky Breakfast Sliders (open face) and they absolutely did not disappoint! Very good! Also tried the You’re Bacon Me Crazy waffle, also very solid! Not a place for big parties, but it is nice and cozy.

Tried the make your own breakfast bowl and it was great – I chose sweet potato, plantains, eggs over medium, bacon, onions, and peppers. Everything was fresh. The Hawaiian roll sandwich wasn’t made in-house but still tasted surprisingly fresh, pictured with the egg and seasoned bacon. The kids waffle was huge and the smoothie got zero complaints from the kids. They also had crayons and paper to color. The space was clean, loved the beach vibe, and the staff were friendly. Definitely a spot we’ll be coming back to.

We’re first time customers and drove an hour to have lunch. Pretty small place, but inviting. We were immediately greeted with a warm welcome. Mels has a different flair of its own that made it a nice change from the usual places to eat. The menu was right up my alley but not so much for my partner who likes a simpler taste. However, we both found dishes we liked and they did not disappoint! Very flavorful and well proportioned and we ended up taking home leftovers. Service was attentive and polite. They were passionate about their establishment and menu. I had the coconut curry bowl with roasted pineapple and it was very delicious! He had the BLTeaky sandwich with home fries. It was well put together and delicious as well. Thank you Mels for a great meal!

My son and I decided to go to breakfast here and the iced frothy coffee was splendid and we had the roasted potatoes biscuits and gravy which the flavor was so good, not like any I had before, savory and a little tangy, the biscuit was crispy and had a little garlic butter flavor to it. My son had the gluten free waffle that was so tasty, fluffy, light, crispy, warm and sweet. We have the bacon and sausage and it was all flavorful and good. We will be back. 10/10

Stopped in for brunch. Love our local spots! Food was really good, service was quick, friendly and efficient. I had the veggie bowl and caramel latte and my husband had the waffle, smoothie, eggs and Turkey bacon. There is seating inside, love the local feel of Mel’s.

This place made it pretty high on a nationwide restaurant list recently, so when it was an option for breakfast on the morning of the start of my vacation driving down to Key West, it was a no brainer, we had to come try it out. And thank goodness we did. Talk about a diamond in the rough.
The place is in a boring looking strip mall, but step inside and you’re transported to an island tiki bar. It’s very cool in there. Surfer murals, ocean life on the TVs, and the giant tiki bar that holds the open kitchen. Very nice vibes.
The service was also full of very nice vibes. Very friendly people who were quick to point me in the right direction on the menu. Coffee refills kept coming very timely. No issues.
As for the food, wow, very unexpectedly good.
I had the The Waffle Cristo (ham and provolone cheese in a waffle sandwich with habanero maple syrup, dusted in powdered sugar, served with roasted potatoes). So good. Waffles made a great sandwich bread. The ooey gooey cheese, the slightly salty ham, and spice from the habanero syrup, this just all came together into an amazing little dish.
I also got to sample Mr. Billy’s Sandwich (scrambled eggs, tiki bacon, roasted fresh pineapple, pepper jack cheese, on a Hawaiian ciabatta roll). Unfortunately, an even better sandwich. The ciabatta was sturdy, but not dry or tough. And the tiki bacon… One of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Candied, or spiced, or both, thick cut, it was easily the star of the show during my visit here. You just get the tiki bacon when you come here.
Overall, I’m glad I identified this place. I was very happy with my experience here, and if I’m ever anywhere near this area again, I will be coming back.

11/10 FOR SURE!! From beginning to end, it was an amazing experience, and the food is SO good!!!! My daughter and I came in for lunch today and are so happy we did. She built her own poke bowl with salmon and I ordered the chicken avocado club, both came out quickly and was SO fresh! We ended up taking a slice of their pina colada rum cake home and the rest of the Shasta potatoes home for later and despite being absolutely stuffed I already cannot wait to eat them both. 1000% recommend stopping in for FANTASTIC meal!!!!

Small tiki themed place with GREAT food. Casual, friendly. Breakfast until 3 but also serve dinner. Coffee and smoothies. Poke bowl was the best I’ve had, with a unique Caribbean twist. Highly recommend.
