There seriously needs to be a study on how this place has reviews above one star. If I could give zero stars, I would.

I came to Danny’s because it’s close by and the online menu made it look like a decent, affordable option. Big mistake. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese that was listed for $5.50 and got charged almost $8. When I unwrapped it, it had one sad egg instead of two which was promised on the menu, and barely any other product. It looked like they’d given up.
I went back in to ask about the missing egg and the price jump, and was told, without a second thought, “It’s because of inflation.” That was it. No apology, no offer to fix it. Just a dismissive attitude like I was the problem for even asking. Then they took the sandwich back, handed me a cash refund, and walked away mid-conversation without another word.
I left feeling genuinely disappointed — not just by the food, but by the way I was treated.
I ended up going to Leo’s Deli down the street and got the same sandwich for the same price, except it was hot, fresh, and actually had two eggs. Imagine that.

Yes, prices are rising. I get it. But cutting quality, raising prices, and treating customers like they’re an inconvenience? That’s not inflation. That’s just bad business. Zero out of ten. Skip Danny’s and go to Leo’s instead. You’ll thank yourself.

I called in my order at 11:47 am, they said 10 to 15 minutes. I got there at 12:00 the order was ready the bill was $42 and change for 4 slices of pizza a chicken parm hero and 4 drinks. Kind of high but hey our economy is in the toilet so I don’t mind paying for good food. Everything but the drinks was horrible the chicken parm wasn’t edible, the chicken tasted and felt like it was cartilage and the sauce was worse than a can of something bought from the dollar store. The pizza was cold had no flavor and the crust tasted and had the texture of a cardboard box. Which tells me it was from yesterday.

I order tacos and I could see inside the kitchen and the guy making it was not wearing any gloves at all. He put his whole bare hand in the container of cheese. I immediately lost my appetite when I saw this. I politely asked for the owner and said I’m sorry but I want my money back because the cook is not wearing any gloves. They gave me my money back and one of the workers said to “I don’t care get out” it’s a disgrace that they would make food with out gloves in this day with so many deadly viruses going around. They showed me no respect and didn’t even apologize. I do not recommend this place. I wish the hilltop deli family could come back to this location. They are truly missed. Do Not Eat at Danny’s Pizza. It is not sanitary!

Walked in to get a take out menu but no one behind the counter came to serve me so I left.

Grew up going to Hilltop Deli and was disappointed by the reduced quality in its later years, especially when it first went under new ownership. I’ve waited a awhile to stop in when it became Dannys. It was more crowded than I’ve seen it many years, very clean and upbeat. The service was FAST and the sandwich was great. Looking forward to being a repeat customer at this location again. They’re dong a good job.

Hilltop pizza/deli was my favorite place to go to for a sandwich and pizza. I could grab a sandwich and my wife and daughters could get pizza if they wanted. Unfortunately the quality of the food and service changed approximately 1-2 years ago when the guy who made the pizzas tragically passed away. I stopped going for a period of time (after many messed up orders and a couple of rude encounters with employees) but i passed by a few days ago to see it reopened under new ownership. I stopped in and tried the chicken parm roll (I used to get that from hilltop all of the time) and taste wise it was the best one I’ve had in years. Unfortunately the middle of it was ice cold. I also tried a cold cut hero and the quality/taste of the cold cuts were great. I didn’t love the bread though as it was very soft and I prefer a slight crunch. If they got there bread from Rockland Bakery that would make the sandwiches so much better. I give them 4 stars because the taste of the food was very good and the guys working inside were friendly/attentive. The quality of the bread can be fixed and they’ll learn to cook/reheat the food as time goes on. This place has great potential and ill definitely give them another chance.

This neighborhood deli has been through a number of iterations since the founding owners retired. Danny’s has brought quality food and a great deal more variety than ever before. It’s a blending of a neighborhood bodega with fresh Latin cuisine daily, a Pizza Place with all the usual offerings and a diner offering a large variety of fresh cooked food. And they also make terrific sandwiches. Everything can be eaten in the deli or taken out. Another plus for folks using the Palisades Parkway, Danny’s sits maybe 100 yards from Exit 11 and is really an easy off and back on whether traveling north or south on the Palisades. Good food well prepared and a real asset to the neighborhood.
