In person, the establishment is sparse, with perhaps a dozen tables along one wall, a seating area to the side. Live music is featured; this diner did not attend the performance.
Two bacon cheeseburgers (very good; loaded with condiments), french fries (see photo), ONE Lemon Drop, and ONE Diet Seattle Soda became a $62 tab.
This was only disclosed after providing an $8 tip, for initially prompt, then absent, service.
The bill seemed high for two burgers, one cocktail, and one soda, and the bartender (not the server) explained that the fries were $4 per serving. That is consistent with the menu, however, when the order was placed, “Happy Hour” was in effect. It was the SERVER who advised the same, bringing our party’s attention to the $1 fries on the Happy Hour menu.
Were the burgers $15, $16 (as the menu seemed to suggest), or are they actually $18?
This will be a mystery since our party concluded a return will NOT be necessary.
If you bravely venture down the length of Delridge Avenue (from the south) or take the first right as you exit the West Seattle Bridge on Delridge, you can sample the burger for yourself, although, this diner will encourage CONFIRMING the price for every item order to avoid upset.
P.S. Dine soon. The establishment is in jeopardy of the upcoming West Seattle Light Rail service.
Matt, the proprietor, cures his own bacon and it is unbelievable. Seasoned with a perfect blend that isn’t too spicy, isn’t too sweet, and isn’t too smokey. On top of that, it’s cooked perfection, so you’ll want to double up on your sandwich. The BLT is also toasted on the inside of the bread. Game changer.
Recommend the fries or tater tots as a compliment. And my buddy eating the brisket was loving it as well (Matt smoked as well). Oh, the hand breaded and fried chicken for the chicken salad is juicy, flavorful, and literally dissolves in your mouth. Pork pastrami is amazing.
Let me be clear… Matt is a meat genius. You can’t beat Matt’s meat, though you can meat Matt.
Karaoke seems to be something that everyone enjoyed. Cannot recommend this place enough.
I will be back.
They play cartoons for the kids on the projector, and they play the game once it comes on. Something for everyone! On site free parking, clean bathrooms, Welcome back Skylark Brunch!
