Nestled in the heart of Columbus’ historic German Village, Sycamore has been a gathering place for family and friends for more than a century. Drawing inspiration from the casual, laid-back elegance of Europe’s all-day cafés, Sycamore, is based on our love of neighborhood restaurants that weave themselves into the rhythms of our day to day lives. Join us in the morning for expertly crafted espresso and coffee, freshly baked pastries, and a light breakfast. Midday brings a menu of salads, sandwiches, and small plates in a casual setting, while evening gives way to a contemporary bistro menu influenced by the changing of the seasons and featuring local and sustainably sourced ingredients prepared simply and elegantly.
Elevated global fare from local sources in a narrow, brick-walled tavern with craft brews & wine.

09/10/2025 – Second time visiting Sycamore and sampled their egg sandwich which was delicious, along with a coffee. Highly recommend. The arugula is seasoned and yum.
09/09/2025 -First time visiting Sycamore for business matters. Modern restaurant with cool and comfortable decor. Nice size outdoor patio (weather permitting). They also have a cool bar. I ordered a coffee with a cinnamon roll and hit the spot. Free street parking out front, on the side of the restaurant or across the street. Enjoy.
Everything was very delicious and nicely presented.
The atmosphere was really cool! I love the shotgun style of the restaurant and we sat in one of the booths which was comfy and felt like our own little area for our morning date together.
Highly recommend!
I did think it was a little odd to order food & drinks at the counter. It definitely felt like a table service type of vibe. Regardless, it was an excellent experience and I look forward to coming back!
Update: We went back to the sycamore after the great experience we had the first time and ran into some problems. The drinks, appetizers and service were still great. However, the hanger steak we ordered medium rare (which he said was the default for how they cooked it anyway) came out scorched. They also did not have steak knives so it was even harder to eat with how burned it was. They also gave us the wrong side for the steak (ordered a side salad).
We’ll still be back because the first experience we had was so good that I hope it was just a one off night. Hopefully I can put it back up to 5 stars!
The rotating menu keeps things fresh and exciting, but sometimes that actually makes it hard to decide—there are just too many great options! I always find myself torn between old favorites and new seasonal creations. One thing I still miss is the house-made ketchup they used to serve—it was such a nice touch and added to the unique character of the place. Hopefully they’ll bring it back someday.
The atmosphere at The Sycamore is cozy and welcoming, and it fits perfectly in the heart of historic German Village. Whether you’re in for brunch, lunch, or dinner, it’s a great spot to bring friends, family, or out-of-town guests. Highly recommend!
